Jim Ratcliffe, tax-dodging Brexiter billionaire living in Monaco, says the poorest and most vulnerable should have their rights & benefits removed to bolster our economy. Don’t bother telling us this rancid man’s opinions unless you say how much he’s avoided in tax and what Brexit is costing us all.

I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

If every statement about Extinction Rebellion had opened with "Climate change is the single biggest issue facing humanity, and we understand why people have legitimate concerns the world isn't doing enough to tackle it…" this approach might be *faintly* defensible. But they didn't, and it isn't.

They’re just pouring more fuel onto the fire. Why are the racists consistently called legitimate, whilst in a world that’s burning people who protest over climate change and genocide are not being afforded even a smidgeon of the same grace?

Some protestors showed "intimidating and thuggish behaviour" this weekend, Sarah Jones, the policing minister said.
But she added she did not seek to
"minimise" legitimate concerns people had about small boat crossings.
"This government has taken action to fix the broken system we inherited and crack down on the people smugglers," Jones said, pointing out that system-wide arrests were up 70%.

Picking on the RNLI and thinking you are the good guys is such a great example of what is presumably an irreversible brain rot, like if you opened up the bonnet on those heads it would be like when a peach has gone too mushy to be saved

It’s only a couple of days since Farage and Reform were caught red-handed trying to break election law and then lying about it, and it’s already disappeared.

The utter hypocrisy of Kemi Badenoch here, after banning myself and the late great David Hencke from Conservative Party conference last year. Needless to say my application to attend this year on behalf of Byline Times has still not been approved

It looks like there may have been around 1,000 additional deaths in England and Wales during the August heatwave. The chart shows deaths occurring in each week of 2025 and 2026. I've added an estimate of deaths which have not yet been registered, and marked heatwave weeks with red borders. 1/3

Is the latest Reform/Farage scandal coverage on BBC News going to be "hound Jason Arday into the grave" endless or "Kemi Badenoch defends a Nazi" forgotten after a day?

I know this isn't terrorism. You know this isn't terrorism. The authorities know this isn't terrorism. But, once again, they have labelled protesters "terrorists", as part of the long-running programme to ensure that no one dares protest about anything any more. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

I can’t believe we’re still having a debate about whether there’s a trade off between job creation and measures to green the economy. There isn’t. The evidence was clear years ago - a green economy creates far more jobs than the fossil fuel economy it replaces. Come on Labour, catch up …

Hugely concerning. This highlights flaws in UK counter-terror laws which sweep up activity most people would never consider to be terrorism - and confirms fears that those laws would increasingly be used to target direct action www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Waiting for the system justifiers on this platform to claim that Geoffrey Robertson KC "doesn't understand the law". That's what all of us who've made these points have been told. Maybe not understanding how this could possibly be right is a sign of our humanity. www.theguardian.com/global/comme...
