y’all know i’m not the #1 AOC defender on this site but this seems fine to me. MAHA is an incoherent, crankish voting bloc that nevertheless includes a lot of voters. cracking down on the exploitative business models of Big Ag and for-profit healthcare is solid left policy that could peel off MAHAs

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez@ocasio-cortez.house.gov · 2d ago

There is pervasive corruption across our healthcare and agricultural systems that defy party lines. I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.

if you can’t win cases just because your client is trans, that means you’re a bad lawyer. the political & legal situation is obvs bad for trans people rn, but the laws mostly still apply to us. take it from me: a lawyer who knows how to treat trans clients like people can still get wins

Lawyer told me he always turns down trans clients
MtF
A lawyer recently mentioned to me that every single time he and his colleagues have taken on legal representation for a trans woman, they've lost at trial or have been unable to negotiate a settlement. His reasoning was that, regardless of how strong the evidence is or how blatant the discrimination, juries hold an intense prejudice against trans women. He claims to support trans rights, but his take was essentially that these cases are impossible to win in front of a jury. That you have a fighting chance to win a case if you belong to any protected classes except for trans.

i deeply appreciate this and feel similarly about the struggle against occupation and genocide in Palestine. if a U.S. politician is willing to look past the atrocities we fund abroad, there’s nothing stopping them from selling out vulnerable constituents at home

trans rights frankly is a top 5, potentially top 3 issue for me despite not being trans and not having any trans family being bigoted against trans folks not only hurts my trans friends and every trans person but is so predictive of further bigotry

more and more unions are realizing that socialists have labor’s back and can fire up union members, unlike the democratic party status quo

MAJOR ENDORSEMENT! I am proud to announce the endorsement of @florida.1199seiu.org, a union representing more than 25,000 healthcare workers throughout Florida. This campaign is about building working-class political power. Honored to have their support.

Last time I wrote about Rep. Decker, it was about the 130 different lobbyists who donated to her campaign. This time I'm diving into the time she repeatedly lied to the public, and explaining _why_ she did it: the way she views her job as a public official. letschangecambridge.us/articles/dec...

A contempt for constituents: why Rep. Decker lies

A detailed example of how Rep. Decker has lied to the public, and some thoughts about why she did it.
