With a quote from the CEO of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board: '"Although it may be great for the government to get the spots that they want, it would be bad for the consumer, because that would be taking another 250 spots away from people looking to park in the city of Boston," Vasil said.'

After over a year spent engaging community members, analyzing traffic patterns and signal options, testing emergency and public transit operations, and finalizing plans, the City is set to begin implementing a new, safer street design later this month or early August.

So here we have a Brookline Public Works employee harassing me for not being in the non-existent bike lane. Can folks help me out in identifying this gentleman?

In the MA Senate debate, both candidates were asked about whether they believe Israel has committed war crimes in Gaza. Ed Markey said quickly and clearly "Yes." Seth Moulton never actually answered the clear yes/no question.

Interview with Jonathan Paz, who is running in primary against Katherine Clark, is now public: www.404media.co/why-a-flock-... I listened. Paz has good points (e.g. a lot of crime isn't due to people being inherently bad as Flock PR would have it, it's solvable with public health approach), but—

Why a Flock Worker Quit: ‘They Lied’

Jonathan Paz’s job was to convince cities to buy Flock cameras. After initially being enthusiastic about the company, he started to get disillusioned.

Over 100 volunteers came together for our biggest canvass yet because we believe Cambridge deserves a future worth fighting for: reliable public transit, clean air and water, and a government that answers to working people, not billionaire donors.

Jonathan Paz, who is running against Katherine Clark in our Congressional district, is on the 404 Media podcast talking about his time at Flock. I think it's still subscribers only access, will post again when it's public (or after I listen and have thoughts).

decker gives me the impression that she feels she represents "real" cantabrigians, as opposed to the other people who just so happen to live in the district coincidentally

Last time I wrote about Rep. Decker, it was about the 130 different lobbyists who donated to her campaign. This time I'm diving into the time she repeatedly lied to the public, and explaining _why_ she did it: the way she views her job as a public official. letschangecambridge.us/articles/dec...

A contempt for constituents: why Rep. Decker lies

A detailed example of how Rep. Decker has lied to the public, and some thoughts about why she did it.

If you need to haul a kid (or adult!) bike with your normal e-bike, the Tow Monster is an excellent choice; permanently attached, quick to use, made locally. The alternative is a Bakkie Bag; it takes more work each time, and has a learning curve. The plus is it's removable and light-weight.

Woman from Massachusetts bragging about how she can go hike in occupied Palestinian territory with the support and protection of an illegally-present army while the native population cannot go from one street to another without permission from an ICC-indicted Prime Minister.

I occasionally hike with an Israeli group - i know for certain that our guide coordinates with the army if in the jordan valley/west bank. (Although I've only been on one hike there.) I don't think i actually understood until now how important this is...

We have sanctuary cities, but for whom? States like Massachusetts, California, and New York offer essential protections for marginalized people. You can't be a sanctuary for vulnerable people if you don't build the housing they need and can afford.

Liberating queer kids from their unaccepting families has always been central to my YIMBY advocacy. It’s why I am so angry that San Francisco has refused to meaningfully grow its housing stock since the seventies.

1. In an incredible new landmark review, the Health Council of the Netherlands has declared that gender-affirming care for trans youth works, reducing wait times is "morally urgent," and regret is rare. It is the latest of many Euro countries to advance care. Subscribe to support our journalism.

Landmark Official Dutch Review Recommends Trans Youth Care, Call For Expanding Treatment

The review finds that wait times must be shortened, that few people detransition, and that trans youth care has enormous benefits.

🚨MASSACHUSETTS HOUSING ACTION ALERT MA should stop requiring every new home to come with more parking than residents need. Amendment 135 to the Senate Ec Dev Bill removes parking minimums near transit and caps them at one space per home in most other cases. Ask your Senator to vote YES

Recently I met a voter who was registered as an independent and didn't realize he could vote in the Democratic primary. Also, you can and should vote if you're moving Sep 1 (not least out of spite for the voter suppression involved in choosing this date). letschangecambridge.us/articles/you...

Independent voter? Moving? You can (and should) still vote in the Sep 1 primary

If you’re a registered voter, you can and should vote in the upcoming primary.

We have an air quality monitor, for particulates, and air quality is still really _very_ bad in the rooms without air filters... window air conditioners probably don't help, since they add gaps, but still. If you don't have a HEPA air filter you might want to get one, or make a Corsi-Rosenthal box.

WHITE JEWS, I DO NOT KNOW WHY YOU THINK THAT COLLUSION WITH WHITE SUPREMACY WILL KEEP YOU SAFE IT WILL NOT IT IS DISGUSTING YOU DESECRATE OUR ANCESTORS AND YOU WILL FIND OUT THE HARD WAY HOW THIS WILL END FOR YOU SOLIDARITY IS, AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN, THE ONLY WAY HOME FOR ALL OF US.

Today we painted Louisa’s Ghost Bike. It used to be Jessica Mink’s bike. Since 2015, I’ve created about 30 ghost bikes, but this one was the hardest to make so far. I couldn’t have done it without my best friend and brother Galen Mook. We Need Each Other. #NoMoreGhostBikes

Pleased by the news that our move-our-money, De-ICE Citizens campaign has achieved a major win! Today Citizens announced it would cut ties with CoreCivic and GEO Group, two private prison companies that directly profit from the suffering brought on by ICE detention activities.
