For anyone else preparing to enter the Yasmine Zone today in SF6, your local fighting game SJ here recommends that you try not to immediately jump into ranked with her. Sit down in training mode, feel out your buttons, maybe play some casual matches or sets with friends first. (1/3)

Truthfully this goes for more than just fighting games, too. If your friend really likes JJK, you don't get them into Hunter x Hunter by telling them JJK sucked and they need to watch a "real anime", you say "hey if you like weird powers, try this show out". This is socialization 101. (4/4)

Leaving aside that the old games are still around & still have communities, you don't bring new blood into that space by going "well, now it's time for you to graduate to Real Guilty/Melty, come play Xrd/AACC". Meet people where they're at instead of being an asshat about it. (3/4)

You have to remember that for some people the new stuff is their first serious exposure to fighting games. It's fine if you, personally, do not vibe with the game because of its design philosophy, but excessively shitting on the new thing will not interest people in trying your old favorite. (2/4)

(To be explicit: this is not a subpost.) When I was responding to a post from earlier today I expressed the sentiment that when people shit on Strive or GBVS for being "too e-sports/too safe", I get a little frustrated, not because I want to force people to like things they don't like, but-- (1/4)

I know that waxing nostalgic can be dangerous but this kind of menu design both takes me back & hits so good. I can't describe the feeling to anyone who wasn't here for it, but it's just the right mix of "of its time" & "stepping into a new frontier" combined with "WE KNOW OUR THEME COLORS"

Pal demo/prototype of FFX dumped today and I love the menu and thank you for playing screens I live for this shit

Look, I got hit with my first "unc" (the actual, real meaning of the word. IYKYK. If you call it "Gen Z slang" I'm going to Rider Kick you) recently by someone black, and being honest? Truly? It didn't feel that bad. If anything I think it's a little premature, I'm only just turning 35 this year lol

Millennials are struggling to grasp the fact that WE are “old” to the Gen Z’ers Y’all… it is okay. I promise. Age is a blessing! Y’all having meltdowns cause the kids saying we were born in the 1900’s…. they aren’t lying. Get a grip!

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

Am I such a sucker for Touhou Project stuff that I'll actually reinstall PSO2 NGS just for a shot at getting a Youmu Yukkuri mag and her outfit too... FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

LRP: this is why I scorn the concept of cringe. If you being a sincere creative doesn't involve you doing harm to others by being a bigot or something, be sincere, even if it means being cringe. Sincerity being poison to the fash is a big part of why they're Like That. Don't be like them.

I think one of the biggest issues plaguing young creative these days is sincerity, or rather lack thereof. Oftentimes I see artists, creators, whatever, mask their feelings and emotions underneath layers of irony in an effort to shield themselves from being perceived, and it makes me sad.

Gonna try not to get too deeply into it, but the conversation about how tough it was being into anime when I was coming up combined with a video I was watching about Dreamcon recently really has me thinking about communities & people & expectations all over again. (1/4)

By the way, if you look at the '24 and '25 charts downthread, Godot was at 19% in '24 and 37% in '25. Double-digit jumps in usage over two consecutive years is pretty goddamn impressive and as a Godot shill this brings me deep joy lmao.
