Living in Texas, USA, right now is being subjected to 17 Abbott ads/hr and the only thing keeping you from Elvising your television is the knowledge that you could sell it for $200 more than what you paid for it 3 yrs ago

what i want out of the next two years of an at least partially democrat-controlled congress is robust dossiers on every criminal in this administration ready for relevant agency heads and state governments at 12pm on january 20, 2028. impeachments are one avenue to help build them

Therapists & self-help books overwhelmingly say not to be ashamed to ask/tell people what‘s helpful in times of mental distress. For me, that’s hearing “It’s gonna be ok.” Doesn’t have to be true, don’t have to mean it, etc., but this seems very hard for my friend group. Any (sincere) suggestions?

One more thing about the death penalty before going offline. As disgusted as we should be by Trump's bloodlust, we should NOT lose sight of the CENTRAL role of Democrats in upholding, expanding, and enabling this system that seems to horrify so many people right now. It really cannot be said enough.

“’Maybe I did something to deserve this. Was this about my performance?’ I think any time there’s a layoff or a firing, people assume rightfully or wrongfully that it was a performance issue, and we know that that was not the case here.”

51 Americans spent more than $10 mil each on political donations in the 2024 election alone and DSA has won the mayor of NYC and an increasing # of Congressional seats since then. Seems like somebody would drop them $5 mil once in a while! If you are rich this is a good idea.

Most interesting part of this story is DSA has only $4.7 mil in assets meaning that a large gift could do an incredibly outsized amount of good, as opposed to donating that money to Democrats. Surprising to me no rich Hollywood lefties are writing big checks to DSA. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/09/n...
