“there must be a way to integrate death into living. neither ignoring it nor giving in to it.” (audre lorde)

The most well-known example of this mindset is *Raiders of the Lost Ark*. When Marion says "I was a child, I was in love, it was wrong and you knew it!" to Indiana Jones, in the original script that was not a rhetorical flourish (she was eventually aged up to be 15 during their first relationship)

man, this was a really depressingly common view even among non-pedophiles if you go back and look at stuff. also if you ever want to be truly 'what the fuck' read reviews of Lolita from the time, a book where Nabokov is Not Subtle.

so interesting to see radfems choosing palestine over a woman, when people like sophie still is blaming radfems for the genocide because *women* were shocked seeing a video of a woman with her jeans bloodied in her private area being put in a hamas pickup

As I showed here, the stretching of these legal concepts into situations where they do not apply can have very negative consequences. And those consequences include the curtailment of free speech and academic freedom rights as a result of this over-universalizing. katjat.medium.com/against-the-...

Against the Social Concept of Free Speech

In Twitter-fueled free speech discussions, I often remind my interlocutors of the distinction between a legal, constitutional conception of…

a mesma questão com barriga de aluguel e prostituição, tudo isso ser trabalho é uma boa provocação, porque são atividades invisibilizadas pela ideia que "mulher nasceu para isso" mas não podemos pensar que "femme labor" é uma linha séria de política

just a random thought lol. "i'm being CENSORED so severely that i... can spend all my time sending csam and rape threats to strangers with zero consequences" idk man i don't think you're being censored actually. there was never any threat that their content or media would be delisted from platforms

gamergate positioned itself as being "anti-censorship," but they werent actually being censored, they were experiencing extremely mild media criticism with no legalistic call for bans, (many such cases!) and they didn't have to call payment processors etc. they just sent bomb threats & csam to women

how far can we go saying we cannot moderate speech, because that’s censorship and rape culture should be dealt legally? how far can we go saying rape culture can't be dealt legally, because that's carceral and we should deal with it culturally?

Dworkin was parodied a lot for saying that the pornography of her era was clearly influenced by fascist imagery, and someone smarter than me needs to write about how the fascists of our age are clearly influenced by porn.

I think the porn-critical strain of feminism is most convincing when it seeks to treat porn as roughly equal in influence to other forms of media. But the sex radicals insist on a porn exception: the implausible notion that *this* media, and *only* this media, is influence-free.
