Sometimes I forget NYC has more than 4 boroughs but then I get emergency notifications for a place allegedly called "Staten Island".
It's come to my attention that the published version of Thomas & McDavid 2026 says the legendary King Arthur, after whom we named our genus, comes from "British or French" mythology when it should read as British AND French. And this is how our manuscript is written.
worse than that they literally added text that we didn't write into our manuscript
WIP of a couple of the more famous inhabitants of the Triassic Chinle Formation, about 210 million years ago. Coelophysis (bottom) was an early predatory dinosaur, but despite appearances, Effigia (top) was more closely related to crocodiles. Would be fun to depict the entire fauna, eventually. 🐡
Mignon Talbot, American paleontologist & geologist, died #OTD, 1950. She was the first woman to find and describe a dinosaur: Podokesaurus holyokensis, and the first woman to become a member of the Paleontological Society. wp.me/p3ihHu-NI #WomenInSTEM
I'm having some gnarly artblock, so I will share some of my work from Evolution! First up, here is the brief and early colour explorations did for our Coelophysis.
Manuscript submitted! And it's not about pterosaurs or dinosaurs.
Should I do a 🧵 on my just-published article on how one of the most trusted - and most expensive - antiquities dealers was faking the paperwork to make freshly looted artifacts look like they had long, legal ownership histories? I should. But I'm so tired. Tomorrow! hyperallergic.com/why-do-so-ma...
Why Do So Many Museums Hold a Convicted Antiquity Dealer’s Treasures?
After The Met returned a Roman bust connected to Phoenix Ancient Art, the question of what will happen to other works sold by the gallery to dozens of US institutions remains open.

They really expect us to celebrate our semiquincentennial with cheese imported from the former colonizer?
This is the first reconstruction of Coelophysis, made by Huene 40 years before the Ghost Ranch bonebed was found. It’s based on Cope’s original fossils and filled in with Anchisaurus. #PaleoSky
Having my organs removed and preserved in my collection of Dunkin' Canopic Jars.
I would like a word with whichever deity decided that it would be very difficult to find my glasses if I'm not wearing glasses.
It is every American’s patriotic duty to call out the BS of climate deniers, anti-vaxxers, “wellness” grifters, & MAGA conspiracy theorists.
Oh hello there Coelophysis! (I'm one of the consultants for that episode.)
🚨SCREENSHOTS FROM THE FIRST TRAILER OF #EvolutionWithChrisPackham , coming 13 JULY! METASPRIGGINA, NUMIDOTHERIUM AND OTHER CREATURES NEVER SEEN ON-SCREEN BEFORE WILL BE FEATURED!
When I was a kid, I thought the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was about the Australopithecus. It's still a really good song.
I thought it was going to be too hot to paint again, but it's not as bad as yesterday. We are, however, forecast to reach 36°C next week and I'm already profaning wildly at the thought. 😫😩😖😣
Rownd. Taking a wee break from ceratopsians with a little extant antipodean theropod.
Paleoartists really should stop shrink-wrapping theropods. Not just because it's unrealistic, but because dinosaurs sealed in plastic will asphyxiate.
So even with the latest Windows updates the taskbar is just broken i guess... microslop just completely abandoning the concept of QA now?
We'll never have a model of an AI Major-General, It's decisions are delulu and hallucinates quite visceral, It plagiarizes tactics from the real and from the fictional, From Agincourt to Red Alert it thinks them both comparable.

What sets apart extinct species from still-living species? After doing years of palaeontology research, I can confidently tell you that extinct species 'roamed the earth', while living species just kinda, you know... walk normally. 🌏🌐🦕
