Worst we’ve known’: UK turns to imports as drought and heat hit vegetable crops. Food insecurity and higher prices would follow. Poor hit the hardest. Despite warnings, no plan for water shortages. Need reservoirs, water storage, better water management. Companies can't do national planning.

Microsoft wants to build three massive AI data centres in Leeds. It’ll drain thousands of litres of water from the River Aire and become the city's biggest carbon emitter. We can still stop the council's final sign-off, but we need more voices. Add your name: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/pr...

Stop the Microsoft AI megasite in Leeds!

Microsoft want to build three huge AI data centres at Skelton Grange. It would drain the River Aire and become the city's biggest carbon emitter. We can still stop it - add your name to the petition.

Govt planning c. 100 new data centres by early 2030s, mostly in already water stressed areas. They have no legal obligation to disclose how much water they use. Meanwhile Govt launches £75m publicity campaign to urge us to reduce water use & privatised water companies waste 19% thro leaks. Madness

I remain stunned how a notably unsuccessful and, for years, consistently wrong person (David Frost) can still get a place in our House of Lords to legislate for the rest of us and also still get paid to write highly stupid, dangerous and wrong bollox. But it is the Telegraph

Aaaaaaannnd, 24 hours later, normal service is resumed... The Daily Telegraph has published a response column by a politician with, yes, *extremely* close links to climate-sceptic lobbyists and who recently said in parliament that climate change was *checks notes* “likely to be beneficial”

Precisely the main issue. My experience in education and training is that employers demand "employability skills" from school / college / university leavers... ...yet they offer precious few opportunities for summer placements, internships or day release to students. Employers are hypocrites!

And good luck finding businesses to offer meaningful work experience to hundreds of thousands of 14 and 15 year olds. As ever a failure to acknowledge that our big challenge with vocational ed is our labour market.

Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ve thought through how this will be staffed, funded, and the class size implications for GCSE options. They learned that from the last time, right? RIGHT? www.tes.com/magazine/new...

HUGE surprise that Palantir’s tool hasn’t improved hospital discharge rates. Their business model isn’t about delivering a service - its only objective is wrapping its tentacles so comprehensively around our systems that they become the permanent gatekeeper to all our problems. Andy - get on it!

Badenoch is playing to her audience. She has to pick fights otherwise the few remaining tories will lose interest and join reform/restore or whatever far right extremists they generate next. She’s no longer a politician, just a performer playing to an ever shrinking crowd.

Burnham: Social Care is a huge challenge that demands a proper longterm solution. It can be done if parties work together. Most parties: PM is right and we'll work with him for a solution. Tories: PM is right and we'll work with him for a solution. BUT ONLY IF HE CAN DO IT FOR FREE. Grow TF up.
