🚨 WE HAVE A DEAL! After three years, in a major step forward for our members, we have ratified our first contract with @propublica.org’s management. We deeply appreciate everyone who supported us along the way. Here are some of our big wins👇

The Reader union is in the middle of contract negotiations, and we could use your support.
The Chicago Reader Union has been bargaining w/ Noisy Creek since February. In that time, management has consistently offered proposals that would cut longstanding benefits in exchange for meager pay raises. We need YOU to tell Noisy Creek we deserve better! 🧵 🔗: actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...
Bluesky, we'd like to introduce ourselves. The staff of Static Media would like to announce that we have formed a union with @wgaeast.bsky.social. Much like Jalopnik has already unionized and been recognized, we would like to request a voluntary recognition for all the Static Media sites.
VINDICATED: Condé Nast is paying the price for its illegal attempts at busting our union. Our members won a settlement that vindicates those who “marched on the boss” in November 2025. More here… nyguild.org/post/conde-w...
This week, Slate staff was notified that three employees—all members of the union—were being laid off. Each was a member of Slate’s podcast staff. With their departure, Slate is reducing its audio content, which includes job reductions for a number of contractors. Slate Union's official statement:
We’re on strike today! Support our fight for a fair contract by NOT visiting the @propublica.org website or engaging with ProPublica stories today. Tell ProPublica’s management you won’t cross the picket line: actionnetwork.org/petitions/te...
Whatever you think of the Washington Post at this moment, here's a chance to support the dedicated, hard-working journalists who were just laid off. If you have the means, your donation is most welcome. If you don't, a kind thought and maybe spreading the word to others is support enough 💙

We have nine days left until our current CBA expires. Here are our contract demands, straight from the voices that make the stories at @huffpost.com possible.
The Slate Union is extremely happy to announce that we have a tentative agreement on a contract! This was a hard-fought effort, and the result is a stronger, better-compensated union.
We want to keep Slate human! We’ve come to some compromises, but there is still work to do. Slate still has not promised adequate protections against AI-related layoffs, they won’t agree on a definition of generative AI, and they want to be free to use our work to train AI without telling us.
Our union only has seven days until our contract expires and we’re still fighting hard to secure our unit’s most important priorities. We’re determined to get those AI protections and higher salaries!
Yesterday, Slate management agreed to make video editors/producers a union position! We’re happy they met us in good faith and heard our members’ testimonies on why these roles will be crucial members of our editorial staff.
1/ At bargaining yesterday, @propublica.org management said that they should have 100% discretion to replace workers with AI and would not commit to labeling future AI-generated content.
Today Slate’s union members joined the bargaining team in solidarity at the table across from Slate’s management to hear their response to our economic and AI proposals.
We're back at the bargaining table today. We’ve made some progress so far, but have plenty of work left to do. Just six weeks left until our contract expires. All we want this holiday season is a fair contract!
Today, we join unionized nonprofit newsrooms across the country as they stand shoulder-to-shoulder to demand that news industry leaders agree to common-sense guardrails around the implementation of artificial intelligence to protect the integrity, quality, and accuracy of our journalism.

We received our first counterproposals from management today with disappointing language — including no guaranteed wage increases this year and rollbacks of hard-fought language on diversity and severance. We stand united and ready to fight for the contract we deserve.
We just wrapped another big day of bargaining. We're making progress but there will be plenty of work to get done after the holiday, especially regarding our new workplace protections surrounding AI. Grateful as always for this union—and eager to finish bargaining with a strong contract! 💪🦃
10 years after first organizing, it's time to bargain for our fourth contract. We're prepared, we're united and we're locked in.
We’re headed to the bargaining table today for our second meeting with management to discuss details of a new contract. The members of Slate Union are excited to bargain for improvements that will enhance working conditions and lives. We hope Slate management bargains in good faith with us. ✊

🚨BREAKING: STRIKERS WIN! The order affirms what we’ve said all along: The PG’s lawless union-busting cannot stand. We made sure it didn’t. We’re taking back what they stole from us. We won this strike.
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history. Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX
