Seeing how Francis Lawrence handled THE LONG WALK both reaffirms this take and also makes me wonder how the HUNGER GAMES stories would play with that edge/intensity.

He's got solid visions for these stories as genre cinema, and treats them as stories with important emotional stakes. They don't come off as flippant YA slop, in other words.
