"Prince Ali" is a great song, but every single line is a lie - we learn nothing about Aladdin, and really just set up some mild third act conflict. "Gaston" is an all-timer, and every line is true - and tells us exactly who the townsfolk are and why they will immediately choose violence.

“Gaston” is one of the greatest Disney songs ever written and it’s timeless in its takedown of dudebros. “I use antlers in all of my decorating” = “I hang Scarface and Fight Club posters in my dorm room”

I can listen and enjoy any version of Gaston. I am less successful at enjoying Will Smith's version of Prince Ali. Robin's version, sure. But the comparison speaks to the perfection of Gaston.

Trust in Me is a very underrated song. But be so for real. Be Our Guest is a Top 16, if not 8, guaranteed.

Is it weird that this was hard for me? I really like Trust In Me - it’s so well performed and creepy… But - Be Our Guest is probably the most exuberant showstopper of the Renaissance (and maybe of all Disney Canon)…so fine, it gets my vote…
