On this day in 1944, the Gestapo found Anne Frank and her family in their Secret Annex. Her diary stands as a warning against hatred and persecution. Eighty years later, we should recognize the warning signs before it’s too late.🙂‍↕️

my fellow #Rstats friends - would any multilingual folks have any tips on changing the language for R/RStudio (including the menus) for a given session without changing the system settings? The goal is find a frictionless workflow to facilitate teaching 😊🍎 (1/2)

Covid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.

What I hate about COVID downplayers is… you won okay. In the aftermath of humanity coming together to develop the most crucial vaccines of our lifetime & collectively sacrificing to save lives, we are now less safe, less vaccinated & less empathetic than ever. You won ok. Lay down your swords.

Disappointing this article does not highlight the fact the ABS recommended counting gender identity for all people, but Albanese intervened contrary to their advice to only ask this question of people 16 and over. Thanks to him, trans kids won't be counted. #auspol 1/ www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

We’ve never known the size of the trans community. That’s about to change

Following a Labor backdown and years of advocate lobbying, new questions on gender and sexuality will be included in the August 11 census.

So @amnesty.org and @amnestyuk.bsky.social you turned your back on trans people in the U.K., when they needed you the most. You big yourselves up about how you take on governments over their human rights records, but when it comes to one single bigot threatening to take you to court, you fold.

trans rights frankly is a top 5, potentially top 3 issue for me despite not being trans and not having any trans family being bigoted against trans folks not only hurts my trans friends and every trans person but is so predictive of further bigotry

'"The epidemic was likely limited to the southeastern coastal regions of Australia & along major intersecting rivers such as the Murray & Lachlan rivers. Hold my beer, Australia says‼️ Maaaate..... We are cutting health and science, crushing our disability safety net whilst shrinking our economy and crushing higher education with deep cuts and unaffordable student debt But we give away our gas and oil... No longer the "Lucky Country"

It's not just the US. The UK is cutting science. Canada is cutting science. No one is cutting transfer of public wealth to big tech and fossil fuel companies though.

This needs to be scrutinized very closely. We will probably find that hundreds of millions, if not billions, of future contracts were executed in the couple of hours before Trump announced his latest unilateral ceasefire... and that this was done with people who had foreknowledge.

150,000 marched yesterday in London for trans rights. Opened the Sky News app. Scrolled and scrolled. Nothing. BBC News app. Nothing. Guardian app. Nothing. This is what actual silencing looks like.
