I defended my PhD last week!🍾🎉 I’m proud of the work I put into each of my projects. I’ve grown so much as a scientist thanks to guidance from my advisor and lab mates. Also, I was so excited that some of my close friends and parents were able to make it out to my defense! Thank you all!!

AI use is rampant but my feed is full of “[issue of the day] is why I don’t use it” posts and replies Now, I know that I curate my following and followers lists, but… something’s not adding up. Are folks simply overstating their aversion/abstinence for ‘likes’?
Sobering reminder that #wildfires are raging north and south of the border (see also: egp.wildfire.gov/egp/)

“Best” is considered too informal by some as an email sign off, so I’ve been mulling an alternative for a while. For whatever reason, “best wishes” never really called out to me, but I recently thought of a modification that works for me: “best fishes” 🐟 ☺️
As the continent burns, it's good to remember that the foundations of our current plight were laid centuries ago, when we hunted beavers to near extinction (for "fashion") and vilified cultural burning
I sure do love it when reviewers ask for a lot of revisions on an initial submission and then subsequently decline to review the revised manuscript 🌎 #AELife #AcademicSky
Indigenous burning practices include healthy beaver populations.
I will never understand people who say that a low scoring football (⚽️) game isn’t exciting
Wow, Spain really made France look average today (which they’re clearly not)! ⚽️
Looking forward to using this textbook for my introductory biostatistics course this fall, as the first author was a member of my PhD supervisory committee and the second was my MSc and PhD supervisor #biostatistics
My hat off to Norway 🇳🇴 — you showed a lot of heart!
Into extra time and players are looking gassed. England 🏴 up 2 - 1 on Norway 🇳🇴 and it’s starting to look like they’re going to take this one ⚽️
Belgium can be proud of how they played, and I think the stronger team won today. Looking forward to the France - Spain match! ⚽️
I adore you Leon, Egyptologist here, they were built by a largely volunteer force (corvée labor) of 25,000. The builders were very well fed, paid in bread and beer, and received excellent medical care. There was no slavery whatsoever, it is a common misconception.
um, so everyone cheering on egypt in the world cup realizes how the pyramids were built right? but i guess that's a conversation you're not ready to have
Wow, that was SOME match!! The score, Argentina 3 - Egypt 2, doesn’t do it justice. This is why I watch football ⚽️
I think the number of Belgium 🇧🇪 fans is considerably higher than usual today ⚽️
