My smart thermostat informed me that it would automatically increase its temperature today because it got pinged of a community effort to save energy. Are we cooked, literally?

Rewatched Bo Burham’s “Inside” and it hits very different in 2026. Instead of one man’s unraveling and a commentary of Covid life, it feels prophetic and like a slow acceptance of the end of the world. Don’t recommend, depressing to be honest.

A big fear I have is that our world is moving too fast for research to help us make informed decisions. The Anxious Generation is a great book and I’m glad we have data on screens being bad for kids, etc. but it already feels outdated with AI and the seemingly worse damage it is causing even quicker

I’ve been pretty offline lately, did I miss anything important with all the game announcements this week? I saw Spyro and the Direct but that’s about it. Anything I should be adding to my watchlist?

⛔Don’t mind the gap!⛔ Tenebrous Isle is yours to explore…as long as you’re willing to get creative! In Mina the Hollower (out now on all major platforms), you never need an item to progress, but don’t be afraid to use your brain and turn those obstacles into opportunities!🧠

If you want a good example of how much we’ve degraded as a society, listen to “Just the Two of Us” by Grover Washington Jr. (1981). It has: -about a minute and a half of singing -a 3 MINUTE sax and steel drum solo -45 more seconds of singing -ANOTHER nearly 2 MINUTE sax solo Now that’s culture

I’m appreciating Mina even more on NG+, I could tank most bosses normally but now I have to strategize and learn patterns much more to win. Plus the lack of checkpoints makes you become more creative in how you can use shortcuts to get back and heal. I’m using every last potion in long sections now

Genuinely, this concern about AI is one of the reasons why I think having friction in video games is good and why it's increasingly important to have games that simply exist instead of catering to our expectations. Reposting this message from Kojima about "pre-digested" art:

And he said, "If everyone likes it, it means it's mainstream. It means it's conventional. It means it's already pre-digested for people to like it. And I don't want that. I want people to end up liking things they didn't like when they first encountered it, because that's where you really end up loving something."

“The Al is not just telling you what you want to hear. It is training you, one conversation at a time, to need less friction, expect more agreement, and become slightly less capable of handling a situation where someone pushes back on you”
