CSPAN Caller from West Virginia: I’m a diabetic and I’m on Medicare. When Biden was in there, my insulin was $6 for a 28 day supply. I just went to CVS, it went back up to $80…
How American of our government. Propose reservations for a sovereign people in order to take premium land. That certainly tracks.
Looking at ways to incorporate 1938 Bowman Horrors of War or 1962 Topps Civil War News cards into a DBQ. If you have never seen the 1938 cards, I have included a sample. Will share other examples later. #edusky #sschat #ncss #iteachhistory

In many instances, we are all we have. Blows me away that teachers are not connecting with others, and especially online. Having a network is what has helped me grow and keep me from going insane.
Joe Schmidt@madisonteacher.bsky.social · 2y ago💯 !! One of my saddest moments leading PD in 2024 was when only 1 of 44 teachers in the room "felt they had something that would help make a colleague a better teacher" when asked about their own power to help others. I believe every teacher can learn something from every other teacher!
Just learned about Digital Comic Museum. Golden Age comics which are free for download. Even some of the ads could be used for DBQs in history classes. Atomic War has an ad for savings bonds from 1952. digitalcomicmuseum.com #sschat #iteachhistory #ncss
Digital Comic Museum

I have always loved loved loved the Crop it Strategy. And now it's been digitized!? Yes, please! agileteacherlab.org/index.php/ou... Helps kids see details & think critically about #primarysources. Thx @ncssnetwork.bsky.social conference! #historyteachers #sschat #iteachsocialstudies #EduSkyChat
Thinking of a possible session for NCSS next year and having the focus be on how tobacco and bubble gum cards over time create historical narrative which is shall we say...romanticized, or ideal? Also, the artwork are great sources for analysis. What do you think @socialstudiestx.bsky.social
Walking through the mall in a conservative part of the county and you get a fist bump from a complete stranger...
Linda McMahon for Secretary of Education? Oh FFS...
Love seeing so many of the conversations happening via #edusky Reminds me of the great networks formed over a decade ago via social media. These connections are valuable and I am thrilled to see it happening again.
Got to tell a student teacher that after the next observation, they are all done with their requirements. Last step before graduation. She is a second career teacher and works in one of the toughest spots in STL, but she is doing great. Cheers to her!
Disappointed that I will not be able to make #NCSS2024 in Boston. For those of you going, be sure to share your learning. Also, have fun in that great city!
Saturday session at MO History Museum with NCHE and Dr. LaGarrett King was fantastic! Even better that St. Louis Public and UCIty teachers were taking part.
Working on AfAm Studies "Life During Recon" lesson. Came across this photo... Imma just going to leave this here for, reasons.
