Reading through what I've written so far for my novel. Three times different characters are asked if they would like a drink. Three times the answer is "Just a water, thanks"

I had an awesome time at UK Games Expo. Caught up with a *lot* of friends that I haven't seen for ages. Played a game with one of the members of my local board games club for the first time this year 🤣. Didn't spend too much money and only gained 1lb over the weekend! Definitely well worth it.
Booked a Playtest slot for 3pm this afternoon for Symphonies.
I love the fact that the Hilton bar is littered with signs saying "NO GAMING ALLOWED" #UKGamesExpo
On my way to Expo. Forgot to bring dice with me and I am playing Daggerheart first thing tomorrow morning. So no time to buy dice from a stand before game starts. 😯
It's too hot to really do anything useful today. So I thought I'd revisit one of my old board game ideas. It's too hot to turn my computer on, so I'm going old school with pen and paper and using bits of the old version.
if you're trans and in the UK then please know that i see you and i respect and support and cherish you. it's a tiny, tiny cadre of stupid, bigoted, and closed-minded cis shitheels who are behind this, not "the silent majority". as a middle-aged cis white guy i will stick up for you, publicly.
Just play tested The Artifact with @harperrob.bsky.social Definitely ready for UK Games Expo :)
For those going to UK Games Expo this year, is there anything in particular you are looking forward to?
Just play tested Symphonies. The latest tweaks seem to have fixed the minor issue from last time. Will have it with me at UK Games Expo.
It's nice that the government have finally decided that Star Wars Day should be a Bank Holiday.
Did my weekly weigh-in this morning. I'm under 90kg now. 🙂 I was over 102kg at start of year. The good thing about keeping track of my weight in both kg and stones & pounds is that a new milestone is never far away 😂
I think I missed the deadline for volunteering at the play test zone for UK Games Expo. I'm wondering whether to actually go to UK Games Expo now. (1/5)
We make FlickFleet on a laser-cutter in Paul’s garage. And we’ve been doing so for 7 years! It’s got an average of 8.0 on BGG and is ‘Must-Play’ according to Tabletop Gaming Magazine 🎉 eurydicegames.co.uk/games/flickf...
Standard FlickFleet Game - Eurydice Games
FlickFleet is a 2 player space combat dexterity game where you flick your ships into position and then flick dice at your opponent's ships to damage them. With an average rating of 8.1 on BoardGameGeek it's highly rated and a blast to play. The standard version features unetched ships.

Went shoe shopping today. 🙁 Rewarded myself afterwards with Project Hail Mary. 🙂
I really enjoyed this game. It's coming along really well. I can see my gaming groups enjoying this.
Thanks to @spaceship47.bsky.social for joining @alcannon.bsky.social and I for a playtest of The Artificers. About 45 minutes for a brisk 3-player game, leaving me lagging behind in scores as is often the case! 😅 🎲✂️
In this week's video, I explore some of the different techniques I use to reliably generate new ideas for board game design! youtu.be/uo-MAq_7YxI 🎲✂️
How can you reliably come up with good game ideas?

Off to my monthly Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective game.
Tonight the writing group I've joined were going through how to set up your amazon account to sell your books. I've completed first draft of chapter 1, so I think it'll be a while before I need to use that but was interesting 🙂
It cannot be overstated how much hobby gamers underestimate how unintuitive and difficult hobby games are to non-gamers. This is perhaps even more true of professional game designers, publishers and reviewers/pundits, broadly speaking.
I don't get this whole "McSweeny masterminded Labour's election victory in 2024" . Labour LOST 560,335 votes from 2019 to 2024. You might say that McSweeny managed to target votes more efficiently, but I think it's more to do with the fact that the Tories LOST over 7 MILLION votes from 2019 to 2024
Yesterday, I attended a follow on course from the how to write a novel course I attended 6-7 years ago. Gonna try and finish writing my novel this year. It was also great just to meet new people. There were 12 of us all at different stages of writing their books.
