We're a tight-knit community in Biddeford and we welcome those who want to make their home here. Neighbors look out for one another, and our hearts are with Mr. Guerrero's family as they grieve.

Congress approved $20 million for ICE agents to wear body cameras. And yet, agents were not wearing them when Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero was killed. It's unacceptable.

Today, I met with Gov. Mills, Biddeford Mayor Liam LaFountain, our legislative delegation, and Mufalo Chitam, Executive Director of the Maine Immigrant Rights Coalition, who represented Mr. Guerrero's family. We discussed ways to support the family, our neighbors, and our city in the days to come.

We need more than just a pause on ICE traffic stops. Clearly these agents lack the training and professionalism to be out on our streets.

DHS has provided inconsistent statements about the ICE-involved shooting in Biddeford. The ME State Police & AG's Office need to be able to conduct a full and transparent investigation with the continued cooperation of federal officials.
