Texas law states that a person can only be detained on an extradition warrant from another state for 90 days. After that, they have to be discharged. The sheriff holding Christian Castro has said he’ll be released tomorrow absent a court order or issuance of a rendition warrant by Gov. Abbott.

“The way that people are being detained is far less flashy, but we are still continuing to see arrests,” said Melissa Shepard, director of @immdef.bsky.social. “It’s just on a quieter scale instead of, you know, 10, 12 officers making one arrest, you have a handful of officers pulling someone over.”

This morning in Danbury, ICE was arresting parents at school bus stops. But it’s more sinister. ICE waited until the kids were on the bus so when they are dropped off at the end of the day, they are alone, scared to death they can’t find their parents. I’m heading to Danbury.

I don't know about other industries, but the end of Haitian TPS is devastating for US healthcare. Haitian people have worked at all levels of the industry. In addition to the havoc that the end of TPS is wreaking on them personally, the impact to patients and facilities is extreme.
