Been thinking a lot lately about how bonkers great the show Patriot was, and how people who are into Lodge 49 and/or DTF St Louis should hightail their way to watching it ASAP. Because it is, it absolutely rips in ways that TV just doesn’t (and won’t, sadly) anymore

What's your approach to reactions? Do you seek them out or just put a wall up? I put a wall up. I don't live in Los Angeles or New York. I live in Chicago, and the fate of a movie or TV show, it's not something anybody talks about here. Reviews, that kind of thing, you just aren't exposed to them. But you can feel it in the world - I'll give you an example. We made a TV show called "Patriot" for Amazon, and I just never met anybody who had ever seen it. I never saw anybody watching it on a plane, never bumped into anybody who asked me what I did who even knew what it was. It just happened in the dark, like so in the dark, it's almost like it never happened. Over the years our audience has grown, so it happens now - 10 years later it does happen — but for the first three or four years, it's as if it never existed.

At minute 31, di Prima talks about moving from NY to SF in 1968, joining in with the Diggers/Free City people there, the work she started generating for certain public events. She reads "April Fool Birthday Poem for Grandpa," which is about the inspiration/example of her anarchist grandfather.

I do hope that one day deliberate misgendering and deadnaming will be viewed with the same revulsion as a non black person using the n word. They cause so much harm and distress to trans people. Any cis person who disagrees, well frankly they don't get to decide what hurts trans people.
