Oct 19 - referendum day in AB: 45 million paper ballots - no tabulators - because we are governed by conspiracy nuts. Solution? Request a special ballot. Take yourself out of the line. Folks who are less engaged than you are may not withstand the lineups. The fewer of us in them, the better.

With record lines expected on Referendum Day, only the most committed & available will stick around to cast a vote. This is why advance polls and mail-in ballots are so important — even for those of us who prefer same-day voting. To make it easier for everyone. open.substack.com/pub/drjaredw...

I wrote about some new polling I got my mitts on over on my Substack. TL;DR - ABSeparation views are pretty much set. It’s a turnout game, not an air war. The progressives are revving their engines for their end of the bargain. Are the federalist Conservatives? open.substack.com/pub/shannonp...

Happy Canada Day! Time to get worried about national unity and the coming referendum campaign. According to the weekly financial disclosures, federalists are getting absolutely creamed in fundraising. Separatists have raised 5x what federalists have. Read here: open.substack.com/pub/shannonp...

Happy Canada Day! Time to get worried.

Waiting for Alberta’s federalist Conservatives to get their act together for the referendum campaign is not a good idea. They don’t seem to know what they’re doing.

A decade ago, our government made sure Springbank reservoir would get built. I’m relieved we made that decision, and it was far enough along it couldn’t be politically messed-with, even though Jason Kenney and his Banff MLA certainly tried. It is protecting City of Calgary today, as a result.

UPDATE: With this morning's activation of the Springbank Reservoir, we are now in a Flood Watch on the Elbow River. We are not anticipating overbank flooding in the City of Calgary at this time. A new update will be provided soon. Visit Calgary.ca/flood for latest.

I also donated to @albertasvoice.ca so we could have signs like this one all over Calgary to start, and hopefully across the province. You can help out, too: Albertasvoice.ca/donate Important to remind ABs to reject the whole separatist agenda on the ballot in Oct.

Steve Outhouse is a smart guy and was supposed to bring “adult in the room” energy to a federal Conservative Party high on its own supply of far-right rage bait. He was supposed to be the guy the knife-and-fork Conservatives could trust. Not so much.

Conservative Party campaign manager Steve Outhouse defends MPs launching COVID vaccine injury inquiries and a task force to end "liberal racism" — calling it a strength of the Conservative brand: "I'm proud of it."

A lot of bear activity this time of year, as the people are showing up at the same time as the bears are really moving around. Some KCountry campgrounds have put in place “hard shell only” camping for the next bit. Bear aware: carry spray, consider leaving dog at home, food precautions, etc.

Premier Danielle Smith writes an open letter to Calgary City Council urging it to reconsider a noise bylaw affecting outdoor music venues.

The Calgary Chamber of Commerce weighs in on the cost of separation. TLDR - it's high. Too high. Danielle Smith is playing with fire. Keep in mind that all ten questions are separation questions. They all remove us from Canada.
