Gen Con day 2! Indianapolis is so big and clean and friendly. Here's a quick rundown of what Wargamer got up to yesterday:
Yes, the D&D Gen Con keynote was interesting, but the REAL surprise was a last-minute appearance by Bubbles the Chihuahua.
Not long before the longest flight of my life to Gen Con. Excited, but also a bit nervous about the new sensory experience of spending prolonged time on a plane.
Basically spent an entire month travelling around the UK for live music. Loved every second, but now it's time for my next adventure. I'm going to my first #GenCon in a few weeks! Excited to explore some new games and see creative pals in person - shout if you want to catch up!
Backed. Probably the most excited I've been for an RPG in ages.

Saw My Chemical Romance celebrate 20 years of The Black Parade this weekend. 17 years ago, I was the kind of kid that wore a Black Parade jacket regularly. Brought it with me, heal your inner child and all that.
No one in my family plays tabletop games, but my parents and fiance read all my articles. Sometimes multiple times. Even though they don't understand what I'm talking about. My friends who share my hobby also read and talk to me about my work. I feel grateful for these people every day.

Got really personal with today's board game feature. I've watched a weekly gaming group grow from 1 member to 1,000 in the last few years. Board games have quite literally made our lives so much better.

Great article from @spookysyntax.bsky.social. Seeing these anti-AI signs around UKGE was heartening, but it shouldn't even be a question. AI slop took up valuable space at the con, and punter's money that could have gone to real creators went to this crap instead.

The bank holiday was all about boxing and trying new board games. This week, it's #UKGE! So less boxing, more board gaming. Looking forward to catching up with others in the industry and checking out some fresh tabletop titles.
This article really hit me. Years ago, my partner and I bought Descent 2e because there was a fully armored woman on the box. Later, when I applied to Fantasy Flight, I used Descent 2e content as my skill test. My road to being a tabletop designer traces directly back to that warrior on the cover.
