Yet even if she recognizes it, Towa doesn't know where the true problem hides; there is so much for them to share with each other that the core of it lays buried somewhere crowded and unseen. It should be exciting, this promise of discovery, but there's a small ball of lead in her stomach slowly gathering mass. It was naive of her to think that being in a relationship would give her some magical key to his heart—a person had more in common with a plant than with a city, after all.

While Rean sees his life as a project he could fail at, to her it is a slow building experience. An accumulation of all that has happened, their bodies keeping record of rain and sun alike.

Still, it should mean something to his project—their lives together—that they love each other. It does, she think, mean a little bit of everything. Rean rebuilds in the shape of what he thinks she wants, and life becomes a constant effort of reminding him there's nothing he could be that she wouldn't love, so long as it was him. But that is always their struggle, isn't it? He strives upwards relentlessly—she tends to him until her hands grow numb. Until the sun beats down on her and she sees stars, hoping it all leads to something in the end.

Towa reaches out across the space, finding an excuse to touch him by brushing the stray hairs from his eyes. Here and now, her bare fingers brush up against the edge of the Divine Blade and feels the steel soften beneath her warmth, leaving her skin unbroken and unbloodied. Nothing like their embrace at Nord.

Rean looks over, his tone rasping with what she could only describe as exhaustion. "What are you thinking about?"

"About you." She replies, her voice a mirror. "And about what you could be thinking."

recently i realized that i'm not really a part of a Trails Fandom anymore -- i've self-selected away from large swaths of it, and any discourse i do perceive is second- or thirdhand. i still love Trails ofc but i like it amongst my curated friends rather than trying to See Everyone's Everything

it bothers me how much fandom discourse seems to revolve around analyzing the morality of the authors, the work, the characters, their actions and whether or not something is a "moral good" i do not believe that this trend is disconnected from the wave of sex negative puritanism online lately

Even ostensibly pro-porn folks often talk like it's the presence of NARRATIVE that makes porn an art form, as though the erotic must be justified in order to elevate it from the mere mechanical production of arousal, and it always makes me feel like maybe we're not quite as "pro" as we think we are.
