Action is the antidote to despair. We are scientists and science-oriented people who do climate activism in NYC.

There was a hint in 2024 that China's Carbon emissions had peaked due to their massive roll out of renewables, which continues. Now the data from the first half of 2025 confirms that CO2 emissions in China are decreasing. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨🌊🔋

CO2 emissions in China have decreased from a peak in March 2024 to June 2025. The reduction is due to the deployment of massive amounts of renewable capacity, particularly solar PV.

There was a lot of “you’re doomed” talk when the real estate lobby sued to overturn local law 97 & the gas lobby sued over the city & state bans on gas in new buildings. Headlines + stories implying they’d win. But these were bs cases without legal merit. Now, we’ve won all 3 cases.😀

We, the people, won the court case where the gas lobby tried to overturn New York state’s first-in-the-nation law ending oil & gas in new buildings. 💪 (Decision linked below) NYers in such new buildings will get lower energy costs and all of us will breathe easier, literally.

It's great how we can't organize a substantive answer to this, and no one talks about it -- a lesson from Covid, I guess. Here's what's coming east, 48 hours out. Also a heat wave.
