It was a pleasure to speak to @thesun.co.uk about the Rejuvenation Olympics and longevity science more broadly! ‘Longevity scientist Andrew Steele, 40, from Shropshire*, describes some measures as “biohacking nonsense” and says they “are not very scientific” in their approach.’

THEY have gruelling gym regimes and rigid routines that monitor food, sleep and nutritional intake – but unlike other athletes, these ‘Olympians’ aren’t trying to cross the finish line first.…

On the OpenAI hacking, I think this is the key point: do the advanced cybersecurity capabilities of these models net out at an advantage for attackers, or defenders? If the ‘good guys’ are always a few months ahead, and a few months is long enough to patch all the things, we’re golden…if not, uh-oh

What they don't teach you about heatwaves: It's not just heat. It's: • Your crops dying • Your river drying (Rhine is low again, disrupting shipping) • Your lungs burning from wildfire smoke • Your power grid collapsing It's everything at once.

It’s fun to go through this article and replace the word ‘ageing’ with the words ‘cancer’ or ‘dementia’. I don’t think longevity science is ageist—I want everyone to have a chance to be healthy, however old they are!

‘Anti-ageing is anti-life’: why longevity culture is just ageism in a lab coat

Rapid scientific progress has given us the tools to stop time more convincingly than ever – but lurking behind these claims is the same fear of ageing

GET HEARING AIDS ❤️ stop worrying if they're cool they're like glasses just get them and wear them this one's for the dads out there (except my dad, he's cool and wears his aids)

Hearing loss is a significant risk factor for dementia

I’m genuinely sorry to hear that Bryan is unwell. But this episode shows the limits of flashy biohacking theatre vs real medicine: too much focus on social-media-friendly measures like epigenetic clocks and night time erections while overlooking low ferritin for over a decade.

Bad news #1:

I have an autoimmune disease. My stomach is eating itself.

Bad news #2:

2–5% of people have this, too. Likely more, because it hides.

Good news:

I'm going to try and solve it. Will share all.

Happy 250th birthday, America! 🎂🇺🇸 To put that into perspective: here are some animals that live even longer—some of them alive today were probably around when the Declaration was signed… 🧵

Comparing the UK heatwaves of June 1976 and June 2026... Daytime maximum & night minimum temperatures were much hotter in 2026. Details: maxima over 21st-30th June in both years. Uses provisional 2026 HadUK-Grid data from Met Office NCIC. Note the difference scale is larger for night minimums.

‘The Interventions Testing Program, which discovered or validated many of the best longevity drugs in mice, runs on a budget that’s only about twice what Bryan Johnson spends on his health every year.’ Are billionaires are obsessed with longevity? Check out my new article for BBC Science Focus: 🧪

Just one possible outcome... but the GFS weather forecast model is suggesting 40-41°C is possible in the UK around 7th July. This is a long-range forecast with significant uncertainty, but the fact that we are even seeing such values fairly regularly in the forecasts is extraordinary.

This silver parasol reflects both UV (sunburn, skin ageing) and IR (heat), so I’m trying it out in the oppressive 35°C heat in London. I’d like to do a randomised trial to see if it actually affects my core body temperature, but I think it would be unethical to put myself in the control group.

A new study suggests the uptick in young people getting cancer is because they’re biologically older. Target the ageing process and you might help the 30-year-olds too! And a proper interventional study would finally tell us what these ageing clocks are actually measuring…

Biological aging and generational shifts in early-onset cancer risk - Nature Medicine

Analyses of population cohorts found that young adults exhibited earlier systemic and organ-specific aging, which was associated with increased risk of early-onset cancer compared with older adults bo...

"If we assume that this is governed by a Poisson distribution—a good first approximation for random events—the probability of observing zero deaths in 2020–24 without the vaccine is: P(0) = e⁻²²·⁷ ≈ 1.4 × 10⁻¹⁰ That's roughly 1 in 7 billion—ie, essentially impossible"
