Strong oversight and regulation would sure help decipher between ‘AI will kill us all in 5 minutes’ and ‘AI is a useless marketing op’. Relying on a valley full of PT Barnums on Keta is probably not the play here

MAHA is, finally, itself the manifestation rather than the cause of a dramatic rise of conspiratorialism in American politics and society. MAHA’s rise, just like that of Trumpism more generally, is the manifestation of severe pathologies of political culture.
AOC is propagating dangerous nonsense about MAHA: That it’s “not partisan,” driven by legitimate concerns. No. Stop it. It’s a form of extremism that stands in a long tradition of paranoid conspiracism on the Far Right, channeling vague grievances into a radical project. I spelled this out here:

Great! Start by undoing cuts to Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), properly funding the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), defending the Canada Health Act in Alberta, and restoring health care for asylum seekers.

Ignorance of Canadian federalism among Canadian voters meant that Doug Ford's comprehensive failure to handle a local policing matter turned into Trudeau's problem; the lines of accountability in the UK are at least clearer.

The Prime Minister has a full, standalone minister dedicated to AI but not one for labour. That minister for AI was also fired from the CBC for sketchy art deals that benefitted his friends including *drum roll* Mark Carney. Anyway, just something to think about on Labour Day! NBD!
Leave aside for a minute all of the actual White Nationalists and Nazis Republicans have cozied up to (and hired in some cases), can you imagine just combing through hundreds of hours of Joe Rogan to clip some of his most wacko moments for a response on a Sunday show.

Listening to CBC The House, and they're talking to a lot of Americans who are not happy, and blame the politicians in both Washington DC and Ottawa. Frustrating listen. Canada made concessions to get CUSMA signed. We had a deal. We didn't go back on that deal, and we didn't start the trade war.
RIP Bill Dundee, too. An absolutely brilliant and deceptively versatile pro wrestler who was arguably even more brilliant as a booker.

If you want a rational conversation about tradeoffs you should start by demanding honesty from the industry that has been lying about this technology since its inception, not to mention one of the common talking points being "You're getting this whether you like it or not"
