Also, the whole separation plan seems to rely on AB's continued prosperity by exporting oil and gas to a much cheaper oil and gas producer, because these people are very smart and have thought this all through.

In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
The actual answer is that the city shouldn't allow overnight curbside parking at all, but Toronto believes that some kinds of privatization of public spaces is good, actually.

Max Dubler 🏳️🌈@maxdubler.com · 3d agoI think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
In Canadian politics there's a federal Conservative MP who rails against Ontario's school lockdowns and... yes, the spring 2020 semester was lost but kids went back to school in September and stayed in except for when the waves got high enough to threaten ICU capacity. Just pure imported grievance.

They should have just had everyone repeat a year of school.
