Can I even put into words how fun it is to finally link people to the page where they can preorder our book after five years of work? I can’t. It’s impossible. www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/835977...

The one AI thing I use is a text detection tool built into Mastodon's Alt-Text entry box. Does that count? It would be tedious to have to type things in but I could do it.
💯% The GOP has made a deal with the devil. The red crayon handwriting is on the wall. But let's concentrate on making "our side" more responsive, inclusive, and dedicated to democracy. We need bold proposals. And no one gets thrown under the bus.
The decisive failure of GOP referenda in Kansas Amendment 1 and Missouri Amendment 4 yesterday is yet another reminder of something I've been saying for a while: Voters, even Republican voters, now regularly despise and repudiate GOP attempts to use them to destroy democracy.
This is getting tedious. I wish this stuff went right for the lungs of climate change denialists. Fill 'em right up with choking fumes and leave cleaner air for the rest of us. Especially the blithe idiots who said stuff like "A warmer earth will be more habitable and prosperous!"
When they see Republicans overreach and threaten democracy, even voters in "red" states stand up and say NO.
Republican power grabs in Kansas and Missouri are going down in flames with 18-25% of votes reported so far. Missouri's Amendment 4 aimed to make citizen-initiated constitutional amendments practically impossible. Kansas' Amendment 1 was designed to flip the state Supreme Court to ban abortion

He traces diner booths back through railway dining cars to church pews, and calls diners "America's secular churches," where "every man is a success" and "equal among eaters." A hot slice with ice cream ran him $4.
An Englishman ate his first pecan pie and fell for American diners
British writer Henry Oliver had his first slice of pecan pie in a Bethesda, Maryland diner, and came away amazed that Americans eat this well every day. In The Common…

This happens two months out from when I start Medicare. I'm lucky to have just one full-time prescription. Others are going to get hurt badly.
#RepublicanMedicareCuts Now is a good time to share this with your Republican and Independent friends and neighbors Tell them Only Democrats are fighting for us Thank you
I am so ready for this. I have room for perhaps three panels between the top of the 2nd story windows and the bottom of the 3rd floor windows. Right above a deck. Outside outlet available.
Not sure if everyone appreciates the difference. Rooftop solar hardwires into your main panel via a dedicated breaker, so it requires a permit, an installer, an electrician, and a utility agreement. Balcony solar just plugs into a wall outlet, sharing an existing circuit with no permits or rewiring.
Prepping to run The Red Road, looks like I’ll gneed some gnolls! One rule I stick to with my minis is gnolls must ALWAYS be smiling.
The sky is gray, and the sun is orange-peach color which would look lovely at sunrise or sunset but in mid-morning looks apocalyptic. Still nowhere near as bad as 2021.

January, 2172. Baby variety rankings for 2171 are in. Homo Sapiens drops to the #3 spot. Still in first place: Bipedal hermaphroditic border collie kids. For the first time in a decade, a clone of Donald Trump was born.
In a slightly better timeline, a month of Democracy 250 celebrations end with the president and world leaders cutting the ribbon on the last of the EV charging stations covering the entire Interstate system. Also, Donald Trump is still bitching about the rigged election in 2016.
I busted open a Flock camera and found a Black Lotus card.
Back from first dog walk of the day. Pretended that the wildfire smoke obscuring the hills and treelines was a cool morning mist.
The sci-fi short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” written in 1950 by Ray Bradbury, takes place on August 4th 2026. Aka today. It is a good read, but a real kick in the teeth and a rough go emotionally. It’s available as a pdf online here: www.btboces.org/Downloads/7_...
It is far too easy for those in a position of privilege to judge the actions of others through the lens of that privilege, supporting laws and rules the protect it while vilifying those who don't have it. Honor is not to blindly follow rules, but to see them for what they are, and who they benefit.
Yeah Luca is my favorite Pixar film, not even a contest. I just want to live there and eat pasta.
Started watching another Japanese workplace drama (and eventually romance, I'm sure), "Gate 24." Airport screening team, composed of members of feuding agencies, takes on smugglers, human traffickers, and the like. Main (?) character is a young lady who appears to be In The Spectrum.
Great Substack about UPA, the animation studio that revolutionized cartoons in the 1950s. Founded by the leftist animators who were purged by Walt Disney during the infamous 1941 strike, it was UPA that dragged animation into midcentury mod. Mr. Magoo was their big hit.
The book Inside UPA is a visual tour of one of the greatest animation studios of all time. With its author's permission, we've shared the whole thing online for free. Our latest issue dives into the book and UPA's place in animation history: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/stepping-i...
