We reached the level of capitalism where capitalism doesn't even make sense anymore. The goal isn't products, the goal is market manipulation and evisceration. Nobody wins except for the buyers. And even if some shred somehow remains to make games, it's owned by Kushner and the Saudis, so HELL no.

EA officially goes private tonight, meaning: - EA will no longer trade on the NASDAQ for the first time in 36 years - All stockholders of EA (including many employees) will receive $210/share - EA will take on $18 billion (!) in debt, putting it on the hook to pay ~$1.8 billion/year in interest

Fae: “Tell us your true name.” Me: “…Just my name? No birthdate, no SSN, no fingerprint scan, no address, no mother’s maiden name? Are you sure you’ve even got the right Olivia Waite? There’s like six.” Fae: “What the hell kind of bargains have you been making?” Me: “They call it health insurance.”

Last Night: you know, my elbow is feeling a lot better today. Maybe the worst of it is behind me. Tomorrow morning, I'll get up, take my shower right away, do some writing and Today:

The cover of an early 1980s aerobics album, with the title changed to I am in constant physical pain, life is a nightmare

I (almost) long for the 2000s when trolls stayed anonymous to avoid consequences, instead of becoming self-branded influencers who do the exact same thing but monetize their consequences for outrage farming. I mean throw them both in the volcano, but throw the new guy in HARDER.

I'm a disability retiree and yet still have work/life balance problems. My compulsion is to work on my writing projects, despite having enough time to relax and watch movies and play games and all that stuff younger me thought I'd be focusing on once I retired. Yet my muse demands labor.

Too many bigots paraded across my media intake today. The world trying to beat you down and say that this is acceptable now, swallow it and shut up. Fuck it. Gonna binge Witch From Mercury tonight instead and hope anime girls are allowed to kiss this time and not just for male gaze reasons.

Disability is firing on all cylinders today: knee pain, bad sleep, migraine, bladder, even a fun return of my elbow arthritis. I'm also in that weird brain state where I don't wanna passively stare at a screen and rest, but also can't focus enough to do things. Wheeeeee

Got blocked by another AI bitcoin enthusiast. You can tell that they're a vibe coder because there are three "has added you to the" and only two "moderation lists." I don't think this code is going to compile.

The name is blacked out, but it says someone has added you to the has added you to the has added you to the moderation list moderation list

The degree to which Sierra games have been memory-holed when they WERE the Western game industry for the better part of a decade is insane. “Sierra” is not the answer to a trivia question! Sierra BUILT this industry! In a cave! With Roberta Williams’ bare hands!

what's everyone else's fab examples of once massively popular and influential landmark titles in especially western games from back in the day that have just been forgotten and abandoned completely now. mine is black and white

many of the early and most successful game designers and developers were women most people don't remember their names today, or recall that video game history started before the Boys Toys era funny that many of the games I grew up loving most were designed by women and I never knew til years later

I think about King's Quest a lot. Distinct childhood memory of overhearing a middle-aged woman at church telling my mom about how much she loved kings quest. This was like circa 1995? games used to be for everyone until nintendo/sega marketers turned them into Action Toys For 12 Year Old Boys

Working on a D&D Warlock: a poison themed criminal with a Celestial patron. Happened entirely by accident, patron is desperately trying to get out of the contract because it's very embarrassing, but she's having too much fun mixing healing spells with hurting spells and being a chaos gremlin

Thought bouncing around in my head which is clearly wrong but I just can't shake it loose: is it evil to release a video game right now? We have more supply than demand, with desperate small teams fueled by layoffs up top, and adding to the problem could be seen as a crab bucket situation.

Lukewarm Belated Movie Takes Because Too Disabled To Go To Theatres! Saw Masters of the Universe and it's... fine. A little too winky-nudge self-aware, but fine. Problem is, "fine" is not gonna light the world on fire for a 40+ year old toy that was only adored by one generation.

Speaking as a kid who grew up with the delightful woodgrain Atari 2600, with a lot of fond memories and appreciation for the early pioneers in this industry, let me say with all of my heart: We do not need an Atari cinematic universe. Dear God we do not need that. Don't do this. Oh God. What the fu

I'm still itching to play Fallout 76 again, but can't think of a good reason to do it. The only gear upgrade at this point is to completely rebuild it with parts I'll never naturally be able to get and are just as hard to get by trading. Rewards for this season and the next are also very boring.
