If you watch a UK Nintendo Direct you'll see that they just say "game" instead of "the [game] game" like in the US. Which means that they make the narrator record two versions of the same line every time he mentions the name of a Nintendo game.
see to me this screams lawyer meddling. like a lawyer said "technically we have to phrase it like this in america or we're breaking some sort of advertising law" in a way that no other company cares about
aiui trademarks in the US act sort of like adjectives, so you'll hear the occasional "doritos corn chips" when any normal person would just say "doritos", because a "dorito" isn't a thing it's a /type/ of thing, i guess? and saying "dorito" is the first baby step towards genericization
so my best guess here is something like nintendo feeling a bit spiky about every console being called "a nintendo" for some time and they are leaning hard the other way?? but obviously this is absurd because who is ever going to use "mario kart world" to refer to all video games
