The Tulsa Drillers need a BIG crowd at ONEOK Field this evening! They've got a do-or-die playoff game vs Springfield. First pitch is at 6:30! The summer temperatures continue, but it'll get better as the sun goes down. Let's go, Drillers!! ⚾

Today, on this 48th day of August 😵💫, the heat wave continues to roll on. Hang in there friends... we are slowly buy surely nudging our way closer to the end of the excessive top-end heat in the days ahead!
Mateer and Arbuckle... you better apologize for what you did to our boy.
🚨 Thursday Traffic: The BA Expressway drive has been a mess this morning. As of 8:20 AM we still have major backups starting west of Yale and extending for several miles. If you normally take the westbound BA Expressway into Tulsa, I'd either find an alternate route or plan for a lot of extra time.
Okay, baby steps. Let's get rid of the 100s first, then work our way down from there. A front arrives Sunday night & Monday with scattered storms to take the edge off the heat. Still a lot up in the air next week on if some heat quickly bounces back, or if a gradual drop in temperatures continues.
Fall... are you there??? Certainly not here in eastern Oklahoma, but a cold front brought an awesome cool-down to northwestern Oklahoma this morning! Eventually, our time will come... but not nearly soon enough!
We're piling up heat records in September, and we're likely still not done. We've now tied or broken eight different records for warmest low temperatures and hottest high temperatures in Tulsa through the first half of the month. 🥵
Instead of an angry Iowa running back hating for (AIRBHG) we have an AOWRHG
Cursed. OU’s offense is absolutely cursed by the ghost of Lincoln Riley. (Also completely inept)
Fourth year in a row one of Oklahoma’s key transfer pickups at WR has sustained an injury that sidelinedthem multiple weeks: — 2023: Andrel Anthony (ACL; missed second half of year) — 2024: Deion Burks (quad; limited to 5 games) — 2025: Javonnie Gibson (broken leg in spring) — 2026: Trell Harris ⬇️
August was a month to forget in the excessive heat department. Unfortunately, September saw what August did and said "Okay, bet." September heat records are starting to add up, and holy cow are we all beyond tired of this. I searched for any signs of hope on the horizon on This Week In Weather!

Today was Tulsa's 9th 100° day of September, tied for our 2nd most on record. Only September 1939 had more 100° days. We're still forecasting multiple additional 100° days between now and the weekend.
Welp... there's really not much I else I can say. After some brief rain-cooled relief (for some of us) this past weekend, the heat wave rolls on again this week. I am just as sick of this as you are! 🙁
Oh, so the 2026 CFB season is gonna be like this huh?

8:40 PM: Another batch of strong to severe storms is taking shape in northwestern OK and south-central KS. These storms will march east tonight, and they may eventually weaken with time but some of this activity looks to move back into southeast KS and far northeastern OK late overnight.
I mean, just look at what OSU’s brand new team did to Oregon today. But five years into OU’s current tenure, fielding a competent offense is apparently the most unsolvable puzzle of all time.
We keep hearing that Elijah Thomas is a WR star in waiting for OU… But we’re never gonna see it, because John Mateer doesn’t know he (or any open WR) exists. Gonna be awesome when he portals after this season and absolutely balls out somewhere else.
Seeing postgame interview clips from Mateer: “I missed a lot of throws I don’t normally miss.” LOL homie.

Georgia and Texas are gonna do awful things to this OU team unless they find God in the next few weeks.
“OU’s defense can afford to be a little worse this year if the offense just picks up the slack a little bit.” What if… both units are worse. 🫣
2:15 PM: Severe storm moving south over Lake Eufaula with potential for 60 mph winds and nickel size or larger hail.
2:00 PM: Severe T-Storm Warning for a storm over Afton moving over Grand Lake. Get off the lake, friends! Quarter size hail and winds up to 60 mph possible.
Would ya look at that: Something resembling an actual pulse for OU!
See. This is what I get for allowing myself to be optimistic about OU football.
OU’s defense definitely left their tackling in 2025.
