An exceptionally sunny July in western Europe: SARAH-3 data show strong positive sunshine duration anomalies across northern France, southern England and Ireland. Locally, values exceeded 250% of the long-term average, more than 2.5 times the usual July amount.

What does one satellite look like from another's point of view? On 18 Jul we found out! MTG-S1 & Meteosat-12 share an orbital slot 36,000km up & sometimes cross paths. The IRS on MTG-S1 caught Meteosat-12 over Timbuktu, Mali. ⬇️ The image is low-res, but you see Meteosat-12's solar panels/antennas.

I had an appointment cancelled today because the other person was dealing with flooding after extreme rainfall. It's a reminder that climate change will increasingly disrupt our daily routines and our economies if we don’t reduce emissions now.
