I am 100% sure that the men and women of the #RNLI are absolute legends. Self-sacrificial, non-judgemental, generous, skilled, kind, empathetic and dedicated - they show the best of Britain. They make our country great.

I can’t believe we’re still having a debate about whether there’s a trade off between job creation and measures to green the economy. There isn’t. The evidence was clear years ago - a green economy creates far more jobs than the fossil fuel economy it replaces. Come on Labour, catch up …

This is only the beginning. The climate crisis is here. So why are politicians and most of the media still acting as though this can wait? It can't. We can still avoid some of the worst impacts - but only if we find the courage to act. metro.co.uk/2026/06/22/g...

34.8ºC at Kew Gardens breaks its May AND June records by OVER 4ºC for its May record set in 1922 and by 0.2ºC for its June record set in 1976. Unprecedented heat for the UK in late May, and likely to be bettered tomorrow. A rounded 35ºC temperature should not happen in May.
The US military has 22 sites in the UK. Every day long range US bombers are taking off here to drop bombs on Iran. This is a rogue state carrying out war crimes, and threatening more. The UK Government must grow a spine - and stop our bases being used for this war.

Samir Zitouni's decision to bravely risk his life to protect others during last weekend's train attack was nothing short of absolute heroism. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery.
The most insanely frustrating thing about the #ClimateCrisis is how the breakthrough we so clearly need isn’t technological. It’s just a collective willingness, a determination even, to change in ways that would clearly be SO MUCH BETTER than the clear and obvious consequences of NOT changing.
Why is there no longer a direct train from Clapham Junction To Brighton? The alternative is worse. #southernrail
Got a couple of miniature watercolour painting sets that I saw advertised on Instagram, as I thought my wife and I could combine competitive painting with a lovely day out. The best work of art either of us will see today will definitely be the back of the pack of paints…!

If we want to prevent the most catastrophic impacts of the climate crisis, there must be no new oil and gas drilling. The evidence could not be clearer. So why won't Starmer commit to leaving all fossil fuels in the ground?
New report by @ucl.ac.uk issues a stark & unambiguous warning: opening new North Sea oil & gas fields is fundamentally incompatible with 1.5°C. To align with climate obligations, researchers urge the UK Government to reject the Rosebank & Jackdaw oil fields. scienmag.com/new-oil-and-...
On one hand this is good news - particularly if it reflects newly expanded capacity for generation. On the other hand solar has done well because we’ve had such an unusually dry and sunny spring. At Wild & Other, our solar was up 43% on the same quarter in 2024 but we had 12 weeks with no rain!!
NEW ANALYSIS: UK's solar power surges 42% to a new record, after the sunniest spring on record * For the first time, solar was >10% of UK generation in consecutive months (April/May 2025) * In 2025, solar has already avoided gas imports that would've cost £600m www.carbonbrief.org/analysis-uks...
