Yesterday I pulled my wife down for a kiss and my seven year old asked us "why are you being like james bond???" maybe I need to get that kid more reference points for displays of romantic affection

So far my favourite thing in Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning is the sexy sub crew that delivers seemingly endless exposition while constantly completing each other's sentences and calling Tom Cruise "mister"

i googled “deborah ann woll” after the god of war laufey contremps and i sometimes feel that “we’re getting heterosexuality in the national divorce” is a realistic possibility. x dot com is where right personalities are negatively polarizing themselves against the idea that women are attractive

started the most recent Mission Impossible last night and, lol, I definitely didn't remember enough from the previous film. Anyway it's pretty weird to get "Architect from The Matrix sequels" levels of exposition in one of these. This Entity stuff has gotta be a scientology parable somehow right?

People were temporarily, mildly inconvenienced by the inability to access chain stores in the exact way they'd grown accustomed to. There wasn't one second where I couldn't go to a grocery store and gas station. What kind of "locked down" involves me going to Kroger whenever I want.

It’s hard to explain but tv was better when you couldn’t watch the show you wanted whenever you wanted to watch it and most of the shows were worse and the TVs were worse and the entire experience was worse, that’s when it was better

It gives the game away that media and apparatchiks are seeing a wave of almost entirely women/POC progressive/socialist candidates putting up incredible numbers in multiple races and just defaulting to the old “looks like the dudebros are out in force!” line bc they have nothing else to use

All the Fauci stuff is a modern day version of the POW/MIA stuff after Vietnam - a way to try to rewrite the history of a huge failure of conservative ideology to be instead a story about how liberals and foreigners stabbed us in the back.

I think the biggest story and the more consequential reality is that 30% of the country is ride or die for a malignant narcissist whose policy on everything is “make it worse”. Nixon 2, W. Bush 2, etc. polled lower, but neither of them approached these levels of incompetence and corruption.

Trump absolutely cratering by many metrics in new CNN poll: 66% say he puts himself over country 61% disapprove of ballroom, arch, etc 57% say lacks sharpness to serve (!) 73% say he's out of touch w/regular people (!!) His personalist project is over. New piece: newrepublic.com/article/2137...

I often find myself remembering Cleese talking about how disappointed he was when he met Malcolm Muggeridge for the Life of Brian debate and saw this once-sharply comedic mind he enjoyed growing up reduced to spouting such pitiful, reactionary, conservative nonsense…

I once had the privilege of sitting on a panel with John Cleese. He was delightful in person, but I have to say I’m not overly staggered he’s voicing support for a proper nightmare extremist.

Screenshot of headline on a British conservative newspaper, stating John Cleese supports some right wing nutbag
