Quando omni flunkus, moritati I look at spreadsheets & decide things for a living. Self-professed crazy cat dude. Devoted husband, DIYer, lefty, tinkerer + I cook & I think I’m pretty funny. Big sci-fi nerd. Also, I believe blocking is self-care.

I’ll never get used to seeing these gray ones coming off the line - in Quebec the ambulances are bright yellow (the one beside it is a good example) for visibility. Never considered someone might want like a stealth ambulance

I think the crux is that — there are people out there who read voraciously and keep track of what they read. This guy is saying they don’t actually read voraciously, and their 100 smut books amount to reading 0 books, and saying that they read 100 books is a lie.

Not gonna join the weird #booksky drama directly, but anyone arguing that certain genres of books, reading methods, etc don’t “count” is being childish. This isn’t a video game. You aren’t levelling up or collecting points. It’s entertainment and inquiry, that’s all.

Why don't people understand leasing yet ask for it? "I want a Bronco Sport lease, 24 mos, $500/mo" Sir, that's $12K. Do you really think a brand new car is going to depreciate 28% in 2 years? It's gonna lose that much value the second we slap plates on it. 🤦‍♂️ (Ford thinks it will depreciate 40%.)

Rosie O’Donnell is guest hosting the Jimmy Kimmel show all week. From her monologue tonight: “….And if you thought the President hated Jimmy Kimmel Live when it was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, buckle up, people. Buckle up!”

it is a failure of the internet that gross old rich and powerful men are posting gigachad ai images of themselves publicly and have not been widely bullied across the political spectrum to the point that they no longer post or even show their faces in public

the nicest thing I can say is that it is good that they are self-regulating into deadender spaces we need actual, factual critics of this stuff because we need to do a whole lot of regulation about this dreck; it will not come from "it doesn't work"

I worried that the anti-AI crowd would consolidate around hardcore believes LLMs/genAI do not and can not work. Its a genuine issue for *everyone* since a robust and knowledgeable counter theoretically would lead to better develop, if the pro voices won(which they currently are winning by a lot)

I know you're not allowed to say this during the current debate, but the reason the left dominates academics, art, comedy, and music is that the right has stupid, discredited ideas, they're not funny, and dull resentment does not make for good art. No grand conspiracy required.

I hate that we have let the nastiest racists on earth define and redefine our language. From "woke" to "DEI." Trump's policies are not anti-DEI. They are racist. US firms did not abandon DEI policies. They fired competent black women in droves on the basis of race and sex.

DEI means recruiting the best candidates and appealing to the widest possible customer base - which results show is good for people, and for business www.theguardian.com/world/2026/a...

guardian newspaper report friday august 14th saying
US firms that kept DEI policies despite ‘go woke, go broke’ threats thrived
Exclusive: Companies that kept policies did just as well financially, even after Trump’s executive order, as those that didn’t
