Such an odd cover. It seems to be giving away the "how our hero beats the bad guy" moment. If they just showed Flash stuck to the ground, it might be intriguing - "how does Flash get out of this? I must buy the book to find out!" But nobody's going, "Wow, Flash takes his boots off! I must buy this!"

TIL Joe Orlando worked at Marvel. Just the other day I was listening to Terry Austin talking about what a tyrant he was, yelling at Marshall Rogers for half an hour straight, to the point where he was out of breath by the time he got to Terry. Seems like most DC editors were psychotic back then.

Weird review. How can you say, "This is the first Marvel Studios Spidey movie that felt like a Spider-Man movie as opposed to a Marvel Team-Up movie." And then say, "Bernthal’s Punisher was a delight... as essentially the film’s second lead" in the same paragraph?!?

I agree with a lot of this. I hated that they burdened Spider-Man with setting up yet another MCU franchise, rather than having him fight an actual villain - of which Spider-Man has SO many! Also I hated the resolution; you have to be one thing or the other, Spider-Man, what will it be? "Both!" 🙄🤦♂️

Spoiler: it was not their final battle. This could have been a cool story, but Al Milgrom's art lets it down somewhat. 🫤 Nice cover, though.
This is a nice little interview. I love Terry Austin's story about when he was working at Continuity Studios, and he'd leave a stack of pages next to his drawing board, only to find that Neal Adams would have got bored during the night and inked a random arm (but not the hand) of a figure.

Everything after 1980 is "Modern Age" and you can't convince me otherwise. Golden, Silver, Bronze, Modern. After that, who really cares? 🤷♂️

Starts in '85 (which heavily overlaps the supposed "Copper Age" of '84 - early '90s), runs 'til 2011 (start of New 52, I presume). Man, I'm still having trouble with "Bronze Age." I just read a couple of Spider-Man issues from 2006, and that era of Marvel feels so soulless and corporate. Even Peter David's Spider-Man was tainted by the stink of Civil War. I feel like I need a shower. 😒

Most of the Brand New Days reviews seem to be along the lines of "best MCU movie for a while, but way too long and too much setup for future movies." I like that they're still being coy about who Sadie Sink is playing though... 😏
