David Ellison wants us to know he’s not ideological, and that’s why he put a conservative with no tv experience in charge of CBS

now I get it, it's a D-list marvel property who cares but man, it's a fun book and I hate to see it's legacy being used to make it evil X-men villains who do fucked up shit. the book is a blast and now this is the context it's under.
TIME TO BE THAT COMIC FAN OF DAMAGE CONTROL BECAUSE I HATE THE FACT THAT ONE OF THE GREAT SUPERHERO SATIRES BY LEGENDARY COMIC CREATOR DWAYNE MCDUFFIE AND ERNIE COLON IS BEING USED AS EVIL DISCOUNT SHIELD ARGGGGEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Sanders: The irony is that the proper criticism of communism is that the Soviet Union was an authoritarian society. And then you’ve got the most authoritarian president in the history of this country. So I suppose when he says, “I’d be a great communist,” yeah, I think there’s some truth to that
The premise of One Night Only might be the most homophobic thing I’ve ever heard of. “Imagine a world where sex is illegal” is the kind of thing you say before being absolutely lambasted by your friends because it’s so stupid. It happened! Just not to you!!!
CHUDs are excited about a movie set in a world where singles can have sex one night a year, hoping it comes true someday because that actually doubles their chances to get laid
So Joe Quesada's dream movie is ONE NIGHT ONLY?
The Purge, except premarital sex is as bad as murder.
It seems really clear that by 2028, we're going to have an empty SPR, substantial munitions shortages, greater strategic challenges, a larger national debt and substantially higher bond rates which will massively constrain future administrations.
@abdulelsayed.bsky.social triumphing over something like $60 million, $32-ish million of it AIPAC money, is not a "narrow" victory, it's a people's earthquake. This kind of spending is oligarchy in action, to smother democracy through its formal channels, and is getting normalized. Still he won.
I wasn't paying the closest attention to the race—I knew who I wanted to win for what I felt were obvious reasons, but I'm not a horse-race person and I'm not in Michigan—then last night as the votes were being counted I saw he was outspent NINE TO ONE????? He should have been dead in the water!
What the Abdul El-Sayed win shows us is that we should all lift weights and wear v-necks.
Money out of politics. Money in your pocket. Medicare for All. Michigan... We won. I am so proud to be your Democratic nominee for US Senate. Let's win in November.
the voters have spoken and they love taxes
ATTENTION TO ALL DEM TAX CUT SLOPULISTS
The wise thing for a Psyop is to paint him as a sellout not confirm he’s the real deal which means more from the Wall Street Journal.
New York City’s business elites are long accustomed to direct access to City Hall, where even Democratic mayors felt the need to court the city’s wealthiest and most influential corporate leaders. That access is getting shredded by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Thank you, Michigan. I love you from the bottom of my heart!
It’s probably not ridiculous to state Spider-Man is just the most popular super hero right. Like if someone likes Batman or Superman they probably have a vested interest in “DC” as a whole, but “person who just likes Spider-Man and not anything else Marvel really” feels pretty common
This is exactly right. Spider-Man exists outside the Marvel phenomenon (whatever remains of it) the same way that, to a lesser (in terms of box office) extent, Batman exists outside of the DC phenomenon (whatever remains of it).
I'm seeing a lot of SUPERHERO MOVIES ARE BACK posts in the wake of #BrandNewDay's success. Spider-Man movies were breaking box office records well before the MCU existed. They are a cinema phenomenon onto themselves, because Spider-Man is a singularly resonant and relatable character.

The problem with learning that popular culture is wrong about something (method acting isn’t about being an asshole) is that pop culture keeps being wrong about it and everyone gets real annoyed as you lose your fucking mind
anya taylor-joy says women don't method act because we have things to take care of and can't lose our minds or be assholes
Anytime I feel dumb, I remember that Athena - ATHENA - joined in that whole "which of us is the hottest" scrap with Aphrodite and Hera. If the Goddess of WISDOM got caught up in that nonsense, what chance for wisdom did humanity ever have? #Odyssey #mythology
I do think it’s a case of someone smart devolving into a “debate me Nolan” type, yeah. But also, it is a better written piece than the first review, with a better editor. But there is still so much missing from what the film does and instead endless observations of trivia from Homer and Virgil.
She’s just milking the attention at this point. She’s got nothing but the harshest criticism for Nolan’s Odyssey but thinks Troy was “fun”? If she was truly bothered by how Nolan deviated from the story, Troy would give her ptsd. She’s gotta be trolling.
Make Nolan’s The Odyssey Make Sense. - Professor Wilson apparently.
Emily Wilson gets one more piece on The Odyssey and then she needs to move on and let us know what she thinks about Mallrats
Nolan’s The Odyssey is a masterpiece. The finest feature film yet made about the Greek Myths and it will endure as a great fantasy film in the manner of Boorman’s Excalibur, Lang’s Die Nibelungen, Coppola’s Dracula, Jordan’s The Company of Wolves. The rest is opera.
Turns out @emilyrcwilson.bsky.social knows a lot about ancient epics www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
This piece by Jeff Yang (aka @originalsp.in) was so satisfying to edit. It covers different aspects of The Odyssey and contextualizes them as examples of political filmmaking through allegory—the tale of a 21st century empire reeling from karmic blowback. www.rogerebert.com/features/the...
