Reason I looked into this (see previous) is this CD with a bloody great hole in the foil which still plays fine. (Note the print, which is above the foil layer is okay so I guess this happened during production?)
This I knew: "The track on the CD begins at the inside and spirals outward" This I did not know: "a disc played from beginning to end slows its rotation rate during playback", ie starts about 500rpm and ends about 200rpm (according to the wiki article on CDs)
I dunno about popular but convos overheard in the office yesterday suggest that [liberal] people who are not terminally online all agree that "we don't have an army any more" and that "national service would probably do the AVG 18 yr old a world of good".
