Happy to share our work featured in Nature India: www.nature.com/articles/d44... A colab with ICAR-NDRI, where we ensured that our conclusions are supported by the evidence than breed-specific differences. Ms.Menaka Thambiraja, the PhD student and min author, will defend her thesis on 14 Aug.

Genetic evidence confirms native cattle are healthier than crossbred animals

Indigenous varieties fend off diseases better, research says, suggesting breeders must select for immunity, not just milk.

I just saw a meme that said “get in losers, we’re reclaiming the emdash”. People. PEOPLE. Where are your STANDARDS? It CLEARLY should be “get in, losers — we’re reclaiming the em dash.”

On the third day of #ISMB2026, it was inspiring to hear Prof. Partha Majumder's talk on Indian population genomics work. That he ended with Maya Angelou's quote on diversity was apt. Also, two posters from our lab for 3DSIG are up! New work with Shruthi @ncbsbangalore.bsky.social !!!

Today is a big day at #ISMB2026 @iscb.bsky.social for the Yennamalli lab!!! 1. Kishore and Vennila's poster is up on the poster boards! 2. The publication session on "Benchmarking machine learning publications" with five excellent speakers lined up! See y'all in Room 9-10 Combo... Stay tuned!

Excited to host Dr. Dhiraj Bhatia from Department of Biological Sciences and Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar, on 23rd July at the School of Computational and Integrative Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University!!!🎉🎉🎉 Really excited to hear the science from his lab!🥰

The pattern in science is that you get stuck in every project. But the reason is not that you're dumb but because you're confronting the unknown. And not giving up does eventually lead to a discovery! Thank you El País for interviewing me about my day science and my night science!

They say if you spot a Nilgai, you cannot escape this campus... I succumbed as well, to the beauty of nature here. So, I am starting my new chapter at my PhD alma mater Jawaharlal Nehru University with a new designation (Assoc. Prof.) and new expectations! Wish me luck! #tenured

This is such a beautiful anecdote about Phil. I had the honor of meeting him only once. It was a beautiful encounter and his enthusiasm to encourage ECRs like me, was infectious. His passing was shocking to me. Irreparable void created in Bioinformatics community. RIP Phil!

Some background to this, and an example I think of Phil's attitudes towards fostering students and encouraging others. I never got a chance to meet Phil in person, but will share his act of generosity that helped myself and @hdashnow.bsky.social and I think had in indelible mark on our careers. 1/8

Met Prof. Bob Jernigan, after 15 years! Also met our bioinformatics alumni Jaya Vasavi. Yesterday's posters were super good! Had a good time. Also, it was nice reconnecting with Harpreet Singh from THE Ohio State Univ. We met first in 2012.

The day ended with conference swag collection and topped with collecting the certificate for curating the special issue of @biophysj.bsky.social @biophysicalsoc.bsky.social from EiC @frettinglab.bsky.social and John Long! This was a surprise...💗💕 Super proud of how the issue turned out!

Today was a great day with a dedicated session on science communication with Jeremy Berg, Holden Thorpe, and Daniel Cohen talking about why scicomm is a must in today's time. Also, my favorite Darwin quote. Met a few friends and other ambassadors as well!!!

An amazing set of talks in the theory and computation subgroup. Met a couple of friends. And ended with dinner with my postdoc supervisor with lots of things catching up over delicious turkish food!!!

Fantastic way to start the year 🎉 with a preprint from Yennamalli Lab! This is a ICAR-NASF funded project in collaboration with NDRI, Karnal! What makes indicine cattle naturally resilient to infections and harsh environments? A 🧵👇🧬 1/8
