Time to bring back this meme I made a while back. If being against generative AI in the arts is gatekeeping, then I guess I’m a proud gatekeeper.

Earlier today, the discarded upper stage of a Falcon 9 rocket impacted on the Moon. As part of a coordinated observing campaign, our Very Large Telescope detected spectral lines of sodium and lithium gas in the impact plume lasting for 5-10 minutes after impact. 🔭 🧪 📷 ESO/C. Schmidt et al. 1/4
BREAKING: The New Mexico Department of Justice has sued Acting AG Todd Blanche and the DOJ, requesting the court for access to unredacted Epstein-related investigative files that the DOJ has been withholding.
"…Tolkien’s legendarium nevertheless stands in opposition to fascistic projects of racial, cultural, and political domination. We can understand both Tolkien’s legendarium and fascism as enchanted worlds, constructed in response to a felt sense of disenchantment under Western modernity." ☝️☝️☝️
You've probably noticed that a lot of right-wing ghouls love The Lord of the Rings: Giorgia Meloni, Peter Thiel, J.D. Vance, many such cases. In my latest essay, I set out to put neofascist affinity for Tolkien in religious and historical context - and to show why the far right gets Tolkien wrong.

Guys like this don’t realize that they are the freak
They could always sign up to give comment at a public meeting.
New York City’s business elites are long accustomed to direct access to City Hall, where even Democratic mayors felt the need to court the city’s wealthiest and most influential corporate leaders. That access is getting shredded by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
People who use genAI for everything as much as possible are as incapable of thinking creatively as Emmet was at the start of the first Lego Movie. We could argue that movie predicted this genAI crap destroying critical thinking in millions. Emmet liked the same song everyone else did, always bought
I'm going to stop here because the Coast Guard's Birthday is nearly done and... well... I am "properly-lubricated" as they say. If you want to learn about Coast Guard History (send me a six pack of the good stuff) the National Coast Guard Museum in New London, CT opens one year from today.

I am continuing my tradition (only broken up by the time I went to rehab) where I get blinding drunk and regal my audience with stories of Coast Guard heroism, juxtaposed, by how that heroism comes despite of the biggest dipshits you've ever met being in charge of organizing things.
If you're a veteran and I don't see you wishing Douglass Munro, Elmer Stone, and Stew Graham's Most Glorious and Eternal Coast Guard™️ a Happy Birthday tomorrow...

The best time to speculate about a woman’s body is never. Glad to have cleared this up.
‘In the kitchen the breakfast stove gave a hissing sigh and ejected from its warm interior eight pieces of perfectly browned toast, eight eggs sunny side up, sixteen slices of bacon, two coffees, and two cool glasses of milk. "Today is August 4, 2026," said a second voice from the kitchen ceiling’
Bombshell new report out from my investigators this morning spanning our four year investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s financial records. This report shows exactly how Wall Street protected Epstein and enabled his sex trafficking for decades. Mega thread following with some key points:

One of my favorite things about this field is how much information gets shared. Once social media took off, authors were comparing writing practices, sharing tips, talking about contracts. I got pointed to Duotrope and Writer Beware. So many writers want to help each other. It's awesome.
Seeing complaints online that authors 'gatekeep' information…! Absolute nonsense. There is no industry or craft in the world which is so comprehensively written about, studied, and discussed as fiction writing, and every author I know welcomes new writers who are serious about giving it a go.

I think we’re going to be seeing a LOT more of these false claims, which are already roiling the publishing industry. This is one of the major problems with AI-generated media. It’s so easy to claim something is AI, often hard to definitively prove otherwise, and convenient to sully reputations with
So, Jack Osbourne has yet to delete or clarify his videos that falsely claim I used AI to write an article. Lots of people have encouraged me to sue him, which as I explain here, isn’t realistic. But I greatly appreciate the support for me and @spitfirenews.com. spitfirenews.com/p/jack-osbou...
Ozzy Osbourne's son falsely accused me of writing an article with AI
My reporting on Andrew Tate triggered him. He still won't correct the record.

Right, ok. bear with me, bit of backstory first Right after i moved to this house i found a model sailboat at the thrift shop where i used to work. You can still barely see it behind all the tchotchkes, lol. It's an odd rig, so of course i had to figure out what it was (if u know, shh!) 1/n
does anyone feel like a boat thread. Seems to be a bit of a long time since i did one. i found something fun the other night
There's no such thing as a "free boat", lol. especially an old wooden one. There were 77 replies to that FB post, many of them saying exactly that. Someone did take the boat off that guy's hands, but then they tried to sail it back to England, & sadly, things did not go well. One reply said... 4/n
Just read this in a random memoir of Russia in the 1830s:
@bwjones.bsky.social A bit of an awkward shot before the late could change, but had to share this beauty of a Porsche. You know more than I do about it, lol, and while it didn't look pristine, it did look likes it's driven on the regular and is very well loved :-)
Dude, we butchered the meaning of some Alpha/Z slang but they don’t care and it’s kinda cute because old people. *it’s like how I’ll never let millennials off the hook for YOLO. Like ever. I love you little sibs but that’s how people burned off eyebrows and got chlamydia at the same time.
