I was today days old when I realized that I came to web development VERY EARLY in the life of the web. I put up my first web page within 5 years of the first web server going online. I was in high school. I dunno why, but in my headcanon, the web was already mature by the time I got there.

Here we see someone making an origin story movie based on a character from a book they obviously have not read, since the book already has the origin story, as do all vaguely faithful movie renditions. Even the Muppets one, which is also the most faithful and best to boot.

First poster for ‘EBENEZER’, a new film based on ‘A Christmas Carol’ starring Johnny Depp. “Before he was Scrooge, he was Ebenezer”

So much of the reactionary tech elite and rationalist movements' views, epitomized in Elon Musk, are indistinguishable from Calhounism. Here is Calhoun's famous 1848 Senate speech arguing that Jefferson's assertion that "all men are created equal" was wrong.

government, and individual liberty extinct. So, on the contrary, just as a people rise in the scale of intelligence, virtue, and patriotism, and the more perfectly they become acquainted with the nature of government, the ends for which it was ordered, and how it ought to be administered, and the less the tendency to violence and disorder within, and danger from abroad, the power necessary for government becomes less and less, and individual liberty greater and greater. Instead, then, of all men having the same right to liberty and equality, as is claimed by those who hold that they are all born free and equal, liberty is the noble and highest reward bestowed on mental and moral development, combined with favorable circumstances. Instead, then, of liberty and equality being born with man; instead of all men and all classes and descriptions being equally entitled to them, they are high prizes to be won, and are in their most perfect state, not only the highest reward that can be bestowed on our race, but the most difficult to be won—and when won, the most difficult to be preserved.

The only upside to it not happening today is that we still have it to look forward to. That said, I'm not good with delayed gratification. I want it now. I hope it happens today.

128 Grazer here using this stone as a table to make it easier to nom on her fishies. Also note those claws! Bears: they can rip off your face, but they probably won't as long as you leave them alone and treat them with the respect they deserve. #fatbears

A blond-furred North American brown bear standing in a rushing river with its front legs laid on a rock. There is a fish between its paws, and its claws are on display.

I don't care what Linus said. I'm still an genAI-hater, and I'm going to remain a hater at least until generative AI is not an environmental and moral disaster of stolen water and labor. Possibly after that. Maybe forever.

The last two ICE murder victims were "not the target" of the operation. Some media are making it seem like that's worse, but murder is murder. They shouldn't be killing *ANYONE*.

Another ICE murder to start the week. Don't let the repetition lull us into complacency! Our fury was righteous before and it's still righteous now. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo deserves our attention. Now this victim in Maine. Every name deserves our attention until the murderers are brought to justice.
