When will we get Justice 4 Grenfell? TV producer & Media, Inclusive Journalism & EDI specialist with a great love for Jamaica. BLM. Free Palestine.

Very close to the end of the eclipse last night here in Glastonbury the clouds rolled in and the sun rays gave an amazing appearance as if to say 'I am back'

Really? Is that it? If this is all that’s come from COBR, it’s pitifully inadequate. As crisis deepens, it beggars belief that there aren’t eg plans to increase resources for the fire service, support for farmers, max workplace temperature, funded community cool spaces & obvs ban on new fossil fuels

Andy Burnham warns of summer ban on disposable barbecues

Andy Burnham said he would consider if a restriction on purchasing the products during the summer months could be justified

If it makes the pro-Netanyahu crowd happy I will not always call Gaza a genocide- I will alternate by also calling it the mass slaughter of Christian and Muslim children, women and men. Does that sound better?

there just is basically no coherent philosophical or moral argument that Israel should be a Jewish state in which Jewish people have more rights than everyone else and only Jews are allowed to rule. 1

Actress & producer Viola Davis is one of the few performers to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar & a Tony (EGOT). She is on TIME's 100 most influential people in the world, 2012 and 2017 & the NYT ranked her 9th on its list of the greatest 21st century actors. She was born #OTD in 1965. 🎈 #MovieSky

Revealed: just 20 out of of 6,600 Defra staff working on climate adaptation, as UK burns in fifth heatwave of this summer - FOI request by me @andyburnham.bsky.social needs to level with the country about the climate crisis & set out radical plan to tackle it 🧵 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Just 20 of 6,600 Defra staff working on climate adaptation amid drought and wildfires

Exclusive: England ‘desperately unprepared’ for effects of crisis including water shortages and heatwaves

Climate breakdown isn't a political negotiation. It's a scientic reality borne out in lives lost and wildfires. Tax fossil fuel giants to pay for firefight helicopters, a cool space in every community and a maximum working temperature.

Good. Now we need action. Tax fossil fuel giants to pay for firefighting helicopters. A cool space in every community. A maximum working temperature. And no new oil and gas extraction in the North Sea. We cannot negotiate with the science. www.bbc.co.uk/weather/arti...

UK weather: Burnham to chair Cobra meeting on extreme heat as temperatures surge again

The Government will meet to discuss this summer's record-breaking heat as the tally for days above 30C in the UK is broken.

Left: Sky News report that PM Andy Burnham has called a COBRA meeting today, August 12th, during what is the 5th heatwave of the year so far Right: Your reminder that @zackpolanski.bsky.social called on PM Burnham to hold a COBRA meeting on July 30th, during the 4th heatwave, almost two weeks ago

I would have more respect for Bridget Phillipson's excellent description of what Tice/Farage are doing if she also applied it to the actions of her own party/government. Seeing leading journalists/presenters/actors being forced out of their jobs for criticising genocide & war crimes. Nauseating

Over 40% of RTB homes now privately rented out. Time & again RTB is identified as a key driver of the country's dire housing crisis, yet England - via UK Government - continues to dig an even bigger hole for their citizens. RTB reform is coming, but even 100% of receipts won't fund replacements.

England councils sold 14,275 social homes in the year to March 2026, a 90% increase. Average receipt £112,900 3,452 replacement homes funded. Over 2m sold since the 1980s. Many sold to private landlords, many to councils at a profit. 1.3m waiting list for social homes.

It's pretty simple really, everyone who votes for Farage in Clacton will only do so because he has promised to persecute immigrants. What an unpleasant demographic it must have that they will probably re-elect the MP who needlessly triggered this nonsense simply because he and they are racists.

Left- Israel wants no Palestinians in Gaza or the West Bank. Right- Israeli rabbi, Eliyahu Mali, says, "You must not leave any child alive. Today it is a baby and tomorrow it will be a fighter".

Burnham will scrap the Gambling Act's "Aim to Permit" rule, which currently restricts the ability of councils to refuse new betting shops and 24-hour slot machine shops even where there are local concerns .

Jeff Bezos has just been crowned the world's third richest person...while Amazon dodges billions in tax. Right now, governments are negotiating new global tax rules. Tell the UK Government: don't cave to the super-rich.
