Waking up to the awe-inspiring images from NASA at the same time the US President is implying that he will commit genocide, I can't think of a better quote for the times than this one from Apollo astronaut Edgar Mitchell. I added it to today's Earthset image:

I hate how evil the tech industry is. There once was a time where I'd update software as soon as it was available, new features excited me, gadgets like voice assistants/smart devices were great and now it's just... Everything exists to make me dumber, harvest data & fleece me with subscriptions.

Tech optimism is dead. Camera doorbells are snitches, "safety features" in cars are black boxes which micro-analyse you almost as much as your driving, "smart" tools make tasks dumber instead of raising your skill and Gmail won't even sort your emails if you don't let Gemini harvest them. It's shit.

Had a dream that there was global panic about the world running out of oxygen, Nintendo was the only video game company to make a statement about it, and the internet collectively spent its final hours on Earth debating whether Nintendo was being genuine or not
