Sunken Knave Brewery
@sunkenknave.bsky.social
Sunken Knave was born from the passion of a brewer (@brewhenry.bsky.social) for his home of Worthing (Sussex), and his love of British Old Ales
Have you seen us in the Times? Thanks, @petebrownbeer.bsky.social , for the kind mention in his "UK's best brewery crawl" piece this weekend. We are very proud to have now settled in our own premises in Worthing and can't wait to brew our very first beers on site.
What a day! After a lot of headscratching and far too much swearing, we managed to get our brew kit in the brewery! You can also admire our beautiful new floor and paint. Next step, fitting everything together and a lot more headscratching (and swearing) 😅 But for now, folks, we did it!
Things are getting real, folks. We now own a cask washer! Not gonna lie, this is not the most exciting piece of equipment, but it's definitely one I am going to spend some "quality" time with 😂
And that's the building work done. Next step, installing the brew kit! We are so proud and excited to see our small brewery coming together. We can't wait to start brewing and, of course, to be able to welcome you to our new home in Worthing ☺️
The building work has started! One thing we can say is that the brewery will be... compact! That's the cosy Sunken Knave vibe for you here 😎🍻
We've been quiet on here for some time now. But for a very good reason! Over the past few months, we've been working hard to find the perfect place for Sunken Knave, and we're happy to say we have found a home. Exciting times ahead!
An old Bass recipe from Al at Heritage Brewing Co, Burton born & bred, bringing back the classics, & "Dark Star" Henry @sunkenknave.bsky.social. #BskyBeer
What a time to be alive. Back to the Future. (FAO @patto1ro.bsky.social.)
Been a long, long time since I drunk this but it was excellent, well done @sunkenknave.bsky.social @marblebrewers.bsky.social
It's Day 9 of the @craftmetropolis.bsky.social advent calendar and we got our second collaboration beer. I'm excited to try this one as its an old ale style beer made by @elusivebrewing.com who I love and @sunkenknave.bsky.social who are new to me so excited to see what it's like 🍻 #BskyBeer
We are back @evening-star-pub.bsky.social on Friday for a fantastic evening with our friend Joe @marblebrewers.bsky.social Join us from 6pm to have a try of our Burton Ale collab, a selection of Marble Beers and a firkin of Boffle 🍻 See you then!
We’re so happy to see Overboard being re brewed by our friends @elusivebrewing.com! Go get your can while it last!
For our new collab with Henry at @sunkenknave.bsky.social we leaned upon a traditional Old Ale recipe incorporating some modern ingredients to make this comforting and decadent beer. Expect notes of dark fruits and toasty malts with a hint of raisin: www.elusivebrewing.com/bottled-prod...
I am @salfordbeerfest.bsky.social starting on the @marblebrewers.bsky.social and @sunkenknave.bsky.social Burton Ale - all good @bsky.app subscribers
When Henry from @sunkenknave.bsky.social collaborates with @marblebrewers.bsky.social, an #ISBFX Special is born! Read all about it in Henry’s guest blog post: www.salfordbeerfest.com/news/a-winte...
This folks is our very last pin of Boffle, leaving the brewery and on its way to the CAMRA Worthing Beer and Cider festival If you haven’t managed to try this beer yet, I can only recommend you to get yourself to Worthing this weekend and enjoy it while it last! 🍻
STINGO We wrote a blog post to talk about Stingo and what a beautiful day we had with Jonny (@millsbrewing.bsky.social), almost a year ago. Come have a chat with us at The Hand & Marigold in London on the 6th of August, and discover those beautiful beers on cask www.sunkenknave.com/blog/stingo
A little Friday afternoon treat for the eagle eyed amongst you... Two new beers produced by @millsbrewing.bsky.social in partnership with @sunkenknave.bsky.social. Needless to say these are a bit special! 🍻 Stingo Light - 11% 🍺 Stingo Dark - 9.6% #ShopIndependent #VivaStirchley
NEW - @sunkenknave.bsky.social @otherworldbrewing1.bsky.social Lamprey 1880 Pale Ale. 6.2% abv. £4.20/44cl
New collab out! We've teamed up with our good friends at @otherworldbrewing1.bsky.social for a new Pale Ale collab inspired by an 1880's recipe from Kemp Town brewery. This brewery is very close to our heart as they had a lot of pubs in Worthing. Available in the South East via Superba Wines
This is what happen when you bring people who are passionate about old beer recipes together A unique collaboration with Cat Asylum Brewery for a very unique beer, combining two old Fullers recipe, one from 1890 and one from 1910. The result... an Oatmeal Brown Stout with Opus hops at 5.6% ABV 👀
Henry is a fountain of knowledge on British brewing, having spent time at two grandees of the industry in Harvey's of Lewes and Fuller's of Chiswick, before spearheading the resurrection of Gale's Prize Old Ale while at Brighton's Dark Star. He now runs his own brewery @sunkenknave.bsky.social
Remember last summer when we brewed a collab with our good friends Mills Brewing? Not to be a tease but we've just sent a few pins their way to be filled up with the beer 😎 A few more months to wait to drink it though. Our 'Stingo' should be released this Autumn... When we're sure it's ready 😊
Just realised ex Dark Star brewers are behind the majority of that line up. The 2 from Mark of course, the Cascade from Henry’s @sunkenknave.bsky.social & the legendary Rob Jones helped devise & brew Revival from @downlandsbrewery.bsky.social
New collab out! Our new collab with @mysteriousbrewing.bsky.social is out in the wild and we even had a chance to try it on cask today 😋 Oatlantis is a 4.8% ABV Oatmeal Porter. It’s dry, roasty and extremely drinkable on a sunny spring day 😎
Persevere! Our very own @brewhenry.bsky.social was interviewed by the excellent @davidjesudason.bsky.social to talk about one of his favourite pub, the Persevere in Leith. Have a read on @pelliclemag.com www.pelliclemag.com/home/2025/3/...
Problems All Left Alone — The Persevere, Leith — Pellicle
When I walk into a near-empty Persevere on a drizzly Leith weekday, its vastness swallows me up like a whale. Moments later, when I gingerly take my pint of Newbarns Pale Ale to the table and sit in ...
