Something this whole debate is missing: Sports is more about participation than it is about competition. We should be trying to get more participation for people who are afraid to participate in sports because they're afraid of getting bullied, poor, disabled, marginalized in society, etc.

If you allowed one billion people from the third world to move to the first world in an orderly process, the aggregate economic/social welfare benefit would be enormous. If you live on an island in the Bismarck archipelago, your labor is by definition not going to the highest value user. Right?
This is a big problem. Daily newspapers don't need to exist, but journalism, and local journalism need to. A lot of the work done by journalists at these newspapers has been replaced by nothing and much of the new media institutions are morally bankrupt or downright evil tech companies.

The overwhelming right wing sentiment is that COVID was an engineered bioweapon that was also harmless. Trump overreacted to it by shutting down the country, then engineered a drive to create a vaccine that was the real bioweapon that killed millions, and it's Joe Biden's fault.
