Please everybody who reads this, go along to a People's Emergency Briefing screening about the wildlife and climate crisis, so as many of us as possible get together to discuss what we can do to protect our only home planet and ourselves from the folly of our own actions and their consequences.

1/3 Strip away the theatre and Reform UK is a billionaire-backed project to dismantle the public realm, shred regulatory protections and hand what remains of state power to capital. It’s plain to see – just follow the money.

It absolutely boggles my mind as a South African that I am living through a drought in the United Kingdom. Like, how? We have what feels like pretty much non-stop rain most of the year - the country is rather known for it. Yet here we are, with the countryside looking like the Free State in (1)

BBC News reporting on concerns about food security and water security We can all see the food and water crisis unfolding, why isn't our government doing everything possible to protect these two precious resources, our food and water supply?

And when - after the most acute phase is over - you* seek expert advice about what the 'recovery' for children should comprise, don't balk at the £15bn price tag, and provide only a measly 10% of that. *The govt did exactly this, and then ignored the advice they were given.

RefUK, RW media, & Eurofash are plainly trying to whip up a panic about this. Any serious report must begin by explaining that Ceuta is in Africa - not mainland Spain - and 48k+ of the 50k crossers were already returned. It is frightening how many still don't know this. Please share on all socials.

As both Mariana Mazzucato’s new article & Tim Ford’s new book make clear, (& as we‘re finding where I live), the modern economics of swimming is by default monetised by / geared around middle class lane swimmers, with an awful lot of spontaneity & joy & youth access sacrificed, at high social cost.

The leisure pool is the wave pool with other fun features that generations of kids love. The new complex is a floor smaller and the smaller outdoor pool will be the shadow of the 20+storey tower blocks. Sarah Sackman in a disingenuous letter to constituents described it as “state of the art”.

Millionaires More Radical than Current new new new Labour Government! More than 120 millionaires.. have signed an open letter urging PM Andy Burnham to tax their wealth. The campaign, called 'Proud to Pay' says a 2% tax on wealth over £10m could raise £24 billion a year. #burnham #wealthtaxnow

The Trump family and administration's embrace of the Tate brothers and intervention on their behalf shows that whatever Donald Trump doesn't want us to know about his association with Jeffrey Epstein, the same vicious misogyny persists. The Tates are the new Epstein.

According to Heidi Blake’s thorough investigation of Tate in the New Yorker earlier this month, the Trump administration intervened last year to buffer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan from the consequences of their criminal charges in Romania. The Tate and Trump circles, she also reports, have overlapped at Mar-a-Lago.

‘Petro-masculinity’ is destroying the planet. Can eco-masculinity help save it?

She’s not the only one digging into the connections. A December New York Times report by Megan Twohey and Isabella Kwai quotes a text message by Tate, reviewed by the outlet, from January 2025: “I had word from The Trump admin that theyre on top of things. Ive been told ill be free soon but Trump needs to see me in Miami.” Two Trump sons, Don Jr and Barron, have reportedly cultivated friendships with Andrew, though the White House told the Times that it was not involved in the Tates’ legal matters, and the Tates’ lawyer said the outlet’s findings about Andrew and Barron were “fake news”.

It’s pointless to debate who’s worse, Epstein or Tate. Their monstrous misogyny echoes their respective eras. Epstein seemed a relic of the 1980s obsessed with clawing his way into elite circles and obsessed with recruiting and abusing pubescent to young adult women. Tate on the other hand, came up through the 21st-century machinery of the manosphere, which is in turn largely a part of the internet and the powerful men who run it. But both seem to define masculinity through the dehumanization of women and girls.

I meet people every week when out vox popping who are completely convinced that small boat crossings are rising exponentially. They aren’t - they are falling substantially. Journalists and politicians have a duty to get this message across. Some are mendacious, others just incompetent.

Small boats to UK now down 45% year on year to mid-July. The BBC continues to (mistakenly) tend to hypothesise a weather effect. It is neither weather nor UK govt policy. It is a change in EU-wide flows.

If you’re wondering why UK press has suddenly woken up to Farage, please read this. It’s because: Brexit. The r/w press refused to scrutinise the money behind Farage & the lawsuit against me scared off the rest. But this isn’t a new scandal. It’s the same one I’ve been reporting on for a decade
