Dear SMH, What happened to your motto; ‘Independent Always.’ The Wilcox cartoon regarding the clamour for a Royal Commission should not have caused an apology. Cartoonists play an important role in our democracy to spark debate and highlight issues that need broader considerations. CathyWilcox

When this blows over I might have to share some of the emails I’ve received over the days which really make me wonder why I am the one accused of hatred. There is deep unresolved trauma being spewed by some of these people and we cannot consent to living according to their warped reality.

Very sad news with the passing of Audrey Nash. One of the most courageous women I have ever met. She never faltered in her fight to get justice for the survivors of clerical sexual abuse in the Newcastle #Catholic diocese - including for her own son, Andrew. Her story is in my book #TheAltarBoys.
