Pauline Hanson barred The Age, the ABC, and The Guardian from her Melbourne press conference, with the new state leader Warren Pickering threatening legal action against journalists for “character assassination attempts”. The full story: theageaustralia.com/4fPSuDZ

Very telling that the -botched handling of the Epstein files, -Blanche’s interview with Maxwell and -Maxwell’ move to a cushy prison All this had no bearing on the GOP Senator’s bargaining to get Blanche over the line @cathywilcox.bsky.social
A new round of inquiries may expose more than corruption and mismanagement. The deeper danger is what money, secrecy and insider access have done to public trust in politics and institutions, Jack Waterford writes. #auspol #Integrity #Corruption
The truth, forced out, is more damaging than coming clean
A new round of royal commissions and public inquiries may expose not only corruption and mismanagement, but the deeper erosion of public trust in politics, parties and institutions.

theconversation.com/newspaper-sp... Cartoonists like @fionakatauskas.bsky.social @cathywilcox.bsky.social, & @firstdogonthemoon.bsky.social are the main reason i access news websites. But a correction. Rupert Murdoch was born in 1931. Will Dyson died in 1938. I doubt they were “close” #cartoons

THIS is the one thing everybody outside the UK needs to know about us right now.
The number of terror-related arrests in Britain has risen 1,200% a year following the ban of Palestine Action The number of people arrested for holding signs - under a law originally designed for IRA uniforms - is higher than total terror arrests over the previous decade inews.co.uk/news/retired...
I keep thinking the new Victorian premier is Tony Abbott’s sister Christine.
Democracy being unravelled in plain sight.
The UK gov is almost able to make protest untenable now. You can only protest if you are invisible. UK has made political prisoners of Grannies and church folk holding signs. The UK’s slide to illiberalism is better dressed than the US version, but it’s the same trajectory.
It would be easy to call this the “new normal“ but that’s incorrect. In actual fact, “normal” is going to keep getting worse and worse and worse. Just how bad it will get depends entirely on how fast & far we go on real, legitimate (not performative) #ClimateAction. We know how. It’s about will.
Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.
In fifteen years, the UK has deleted coal power from their power system, halved fossil gas use, replaced most of that with wind and solar, and the country has not suffered the hellish blackout apocalypse conservatives and media outlets promised would happen. ember-energy.org/data/electri...
