Effect on "jobs"? 🤨 I wonder where all that cotton was coming from. 🧐 Which kind of witchcraft did grow it? 🤔

As a Mx, I ffing hate the gringation of Día de Muertos. The parades were an invention of a Bond film (cool, its fiction). But that is not what the day is about. As a cultural historian I know traditions change, but this is being pushed as a tourist attraction, to fulfill gringos image of Mx. FU

Holy shit the Mexico City Dia De Los Muertos parade this year is stunning stuff www.instagram.com/popular/mexi...

A photo of a gigantic skeleton woman statue dressed in a gorgeous purple dress. She looks like she's 6 stories tall

I’m thinking along another line, historically: the scandal around Yambo Ouologuem, who was accused of plagiarism because he employed a style that white, European authors would later adopt in pop literature - quoting and collating from a range of works to make something new.

and the whole don't attribute to malice what can equally be attributed to ignorance*? never saw ignorance always manifest in patriarchally aligned ways, unless patriarchy is a conspiracy theory to you, this is clearly a strong pattern — and a system is what it does: sexism * a very yucky expression

Maybe some critical systems should NOT be connected. Unsure why a bunch of folks are making the recent fridges hacks just about "AI safety". Like, yes, regulate the shit out of "AI" (ie. dismantle the big "labs") ,but regulate the IT industry at large.

I said this on @nativelandpod.bsky.social but I'll repeat it here: A dangerous narrative is going to be "the GOP gerrymandering didn't work." NO. It worked GREAT. We just OVERCAME it. But we'd have even MORE seats, and different candidates could have won those seats, without the gerryamndering.
