I read 13 novels in September: • Please read The Pump by Sydney Hegele. 🤌 • The Shards is about 300 pages too long. Not necessary. • Fruit Fly is like Yellowface, but better. • These Are The Fireworks was terrific. (Nova Scotia author) • I didn't overly enjoy The Caretaker until the ending. #booksky

A good illustration of petty Zionist grievances. The Giller boycott ended, so instead of complaining about that, Marsha Lederman's upset that --- what, people aren't celebrating the Giller Prize sufficiently? How much veneration does it need www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...
Opinion: A happy ending for the Giller Prize – or is it?

them: The beavers are NOT okay. me: SAY LESS 📚 🏃🏃♀️🏃♂️💨 anything by @sydhegele.bsky.social is bound to be weird-as-fuck—so basically, an immediate “yes”
The Pump by Sydney Hegele Small town horror. The beavers are NOT okay. Love the way this tangled together various short stories. Also really loved how queer so much of it was!
finished the pump by Sydney Hegele and oh my god it is incredible. the way all the stories are woven together is so so so cool, and I love their writing style. the last two stories especially I loved, but honestly every story in there was just really good.

Had convos w/ multiple people in the past 4 days who DID NOT KNOW that 1. AI doesn't "think" or know anything; it's a probability machine 2. It was created using massive amounts of work stolen from actual people including me 3. The environmental costs are astronomical Spread the word, every time!
I have chronic pain issues that make it hard to write or do anything at all, and I have disabilities that compound on those issues too, and I write all the goddamn time without using AI because I'm not also a fucking loser.
I’m tired, boss. These people suck.
