A couple of other birds from the raptor demonstration at the ren faire: Harris's Hawk Luna and Eurasian Eagle Owl Ringo (who is molting and a little scrungly because of this)

A captive Harris's Hawk in jesses standing on the ground and looking over her shoulder.

This is a dark brown raptor with chestnut wings and legs. She has white stripes at the base and tip of her tail. Her feet and facial skin are yellow, while her bill is black.A captive Eurasian Eagle Owl in jesses flying towards food that has been placed on a perch for him.

This is a massive light brown owl with dark streaks around his face. He has huge orange eyes and a black bill.

Horned Grebe babies learn how to dive and hunt very quickly. In the marsh I’m watching, they seem to catch mostly leeches or dragonfly nymphs. This junior grebe has just surfaced with, and subdued, a dragonfly nymph that will soon go down the hatch! #Birds 🪶

A baby Horned Grebe in a prairie marsh. Junior grebe is mostly grey and white with grey and white stripes on its face and neck. It has just surfaced with a large green dragonfly nymph in its beak which it will soon eat. The water is dark with light green algae patches surrounding the baby grebe. The background reeds are in shadow and also very dark.

Some sort of wizard battle happening here (I don't know why the Osprey was so annoyed that there were geese around but they were NOT having it)

An Osprey swooping a Canada Goose, who is taking off from the water and hissing at the raptor

here's another throwback from 2016 a private poster commission inspired by Moby Dick honestly still really love this one, both the concept and execution i worked on pre-inked scratchboard for this one (so fully black) instead of the usual white claybord that i ink myself 30x40cm

a black and white scratchboard illustration inspired by Mody Dick. It depicts a giant white whale about to collide with a whaling ship. The scene is viewed from a bird's eye view, high above the scene. Seagulls are seen orbiting around the scene. The ship and the whale create waves in the water that reinforce the tension between them.

I'm just so fucking sick of the way sports have been used to make transphobia and transmisogyny acceptable. All of the arguments feel like the bullshit anti-abortion wedge arguments, where the answer is "that doesn't fucking happen, but even if it did, the core ethics of the issue don't change."

I don't give a flying fuck if trans girls have an advantage in sports. Many people have an advantage in sports. That's how sports work.

we are not going to talk about how long I watched this little bastard sitting in a tree and NOT CATCHING ANY FISH while I held a very heavy camera and got a sunburn but they eventually came through
